Google Kubernetes Support Engineer.  

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced Google Kubernetes Support Engineer to provide expert support and operational oversight of Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) container environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, and containerized infrastructure. The ideal candidate will respond to platform incidents, handle service requests, and implement automation through advanced scripting and programming capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert-level support for Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) container clusters, ensuring operational stability and performance.
  • Respond to and resolve GKE container platform incidents and service requests, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and optimize Docker container environments, implementing best practices for security, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Perform advanced scripting and programming tasks using tools such as Python, Bash, or Go, to automate deployment, monitoring, and remediation tasks.
  • Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD workflows and container-based application deployments.
  • Monitor cluster health, container workloads, and resource utilization, and proactively address system bottlenecks or capacity issues.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and apply GKE updates and patches as needed.
  • Document procedures, troubleshooting guides, and automation scripts to support team knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Docker in a production environment.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
  • Proficiency in managing Linux-based systems and understanding of cloud networking fundamentals.
  • Experience in managing and monitoring containerized workloads in cloud-native environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Google Cloud Professional Kubernetes Administrator or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Helm).
  • Familiarity with container security tools, monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana), and logging platforms (e.g., Stackdriver).
  • Knowledge of service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) and CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, ArgoCD).
