We are seeking an experienced Unix AIX Administrator (L3) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing AIX systems, both through GUI and command line, and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our AIX environments.
Key Responsibilities:
System Installation and Patching: Install, configure, and update AIX operating systems using alt disk install or multibos, and troubleshoot any issues during and after patching.
NIM Setup: Configure and manage Network Installation Manager (NIM) setups.
GPFS Clusters: Hands-on experience with GPFS (General Parallel File System) clusters.
HACMP Clusters: Manage HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multi-Processing) clusters and troubleshoot by reading cluster logs.
AIX OS Migration: Perform AIX OS migrations using nimadm process.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of AIX servers, read error codes, and analyze system logs.
Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage AIX disaster recovery processes and DLPAR (Dynamic Logical Partitioning) operations using HMC (Hardware Management Console).
Environment Management: Create and administer new AIX environments and user accounts as per business requirements.
Support: Provide support to developers, administrators, and application super users.
Maintenance: Conduct upgrades, patching, and preventative maintenance for all AIX operating environments.
Capacity Management: Plan, coordinate, and execute AIX OS and firmware maintenance, including firmware upgrades and installing AIX OS patches.
Security: Provide suggestions to enhance security by integrating additional software/hardware solutions.
Backup and Restore: Support backup and restore infrastructure and applications.
Performance and Uptime: Ensure maximum performance and uptime for all AIX servers.
Deployment Support: Coordinate and support the deployment of all AIX supporting software and application-related software upgrades.
Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintain infrastructure software such as GPFS, PowerHA, AIX (6.X and above), VIOS (Virtual I/O Server), and PowerVM.
Operational Support: Provide 24x7 operational support, including handling day-to-day calls on AIX/servers/VIO servers issues, and managing VIO and hardware management consoles.
LPAR and HA Management: Handle, set up, and configure LPAR (Logical Partitioning) and HA (High Availability) environments.
Qualifications:
Experience: Extensive experience in handling AIX systems at an L3 level, including both GUI and command line.
Skills:
Proficiency in NIM setup and management.
Hands-on experience with GPFS and HACMP clusters.
Knowledge of AIX patching processes and troubleshooting.
Experience with AIX OS migration using nimadm.
Ability to monitor performance, read error codes, and analyze system logs.
Experience with AIX disaster recovery and DLPAR operations.
Strong understanding of capacity management and performance monitoring.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Basic Linux server administration knowledge is an added advantage.
Certifications: Relevant certifications in AIX administration are a plus.
