Position Overview:
The SQL DBA will be responsible for database analysis, development, and administration - including data modeling, performance tuning, and maintenance. The role requires hands-on expertise in SQL/PL-SQL development, database architecture, and production environment support.
Key Responsibilities:
SQL & PL/SQL Development
- Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL and PL/SQL procedures, functions, and packages.
- Review and optimize code for performance and scalability.
- Support application developers with SQL design and best practices.
Database Architecture & Design
- Collaborate with IT Architects to design enterprise-grade database solutions.
- Define and enforce database policies, standards, and naming conventions.
- Develop and maintain logical/physical database models.
- Provide leadership on database design for scalability and performance.
Administration & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and manage SQL Server environments (Dev/Test/Prod).
- Perform backups, restores, and recovery tests to ensure data integrity.
- Monitor performance using SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and tools like SolarWinds, Redgate, or Idera.
- Apply patches, upgrades, and manage indexes, partitions, and statistics.
Monitoring, Troubleshooting & Support
- Proactively monitor system alerts and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Analyze logs, trace data, and performance metrics.
- Collaborate with DevOps and IT for uptime and reliability.
Data Integrity, Security & Governance
- Implement and manage roles, permissions, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with data security and governance policies.
- Participate in disaster recovery and high-availability planning.
- Document database models and access standards.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of SQL development and administration experience
- 6+ years of experience with PowerShell, Azure DevOps, and Scrum methodologies
- Strong expertise in T-SQL and PL/SQL with performance tuning
- Hands-on with SSMS, SQL Server Agent, and monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Redgate, Idera)
- Solid understanding of backup/recovery models, HA configurations, and database security
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field

- Familiarity with ETL processes, Azure SQL, and PowerShell scripting
