Title: QA Tech Location: Apopka, FL Duration: 6+ Contract Rate: $Negotiable Required Qualifications: Read, write, speak, and clearly communicate. 4-year college degree required, major or significant coursework in natural sciences preferred. 2 or more years of laboratory experience in beverage/food industry preferred. PURPOSE: To perform the quality assurance functions for TCCC by testing, collecting data, and analysis of the findings on raw materials and finished goods. Comply with FDA and GMP policies. Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Service, and Cost objectives. Comply with all standard operating procedures and requirements under BPUSA Quality System. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Functions essential to attaining job objectives): Test Brix, acid, oil, torque, weight, oil, particle size, sensory, and other required attributes per TCCC specifications. Write documentation for Base Place USA Quality System. Audit process and fill temperatures. Check system temperature charts. Perform daily, required calibration. Understands the use of control charts and SPC. Collect micro and shelf life samples. Hold out defective production according to non-conforming guidelines. Oversee segregation of hold materials as needed. Perform microbiological analysis of bases and concentrates. Read and log plating results. Inform Tech III of lab supply inventory for reorder and tracking. Verify correct packaging materials are used in current production. Prepare and standardize reagents and plating media. Perform sampling and testing of raw and blend water. Test CIP and cleaning chemical solutions. Responsible for confidential Company documents. Make good decisions when correcting blends. Maintain good time management. SDS and GHS maintenance for QA Department Must be able to visually inspect concentrates and ingredients to determine proper color and identify and report colors that are not within specification. Understand basic nonconformance procedures. Use a computer and associated software. Read and understand QS work instructions in area of responsibility. Able to participate on team assignments. Able to identify deficiencies within area of responsibility and take or recommend appropriate corrective action. Ensure that all tasks are performed toward achieving the safety, quality, service and cost objectives of TCCC. Keep accurate records as required to protect products, ingredients, processes and information. Audit and monitor programs and processes as required. Participate in corrective action programs and processes. Must be able to visually inspect concentrates and ingredients and their containers and report any discrepancies. Adhere to all standard company practices and policies. Adhere to all safety and GMP practices and policies. Ensure that all security procedures are followed. Read understand and comply with SDS sheets. Read, write, speak and comprehend English. Keep work area clean at all times and perform GMP activities to maintain QA equipment and facilities. Perform and maintain equipment calibrations. Demonstrate good attendance record. Work a flexible and rotating work schedule to meet business demands. Good listening and communication skills. Ensure that all communications on base activities and processes are communicated in a clear and consistent manner. Perform additional duties as requested by BPUSA management. Required Qualifications: Read, write, speak, and clearly communicate. 4-year college degree required, major or significant coursework in natural sciences preferred. 2 or more years of laboratory experience in beverage/food industry preferred. Requires moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds distances of 10 to 20 feet. Requires mobility to all areas of a multi-level production facility, with heights to 20 feet. Working near moving machinery and in confined spaces. Must be able to use a computer and associated software programs. Must be able to operate lab equipment for product and ingredient testing and must be able to demonstrate the use of lab equipment. Must be able to accurately complete job documents. Must be able to work in a team. Must be able to complete and implement the training requirements for TCCC Quality System. Must be able to follow standard operating procedures required by the TCCC Quality System. Perform all tasks in a safe manner to ensure achievement of Quality, Service, and Cost objectives. Comply with all standard operating procedures and requirements under TCCC Quality System. Read and understand the job certification requirements as they pertain to the internal bid process and job position. Perform all essential job skills required for job certification under the TCCC Quality System. WORK CONDITIONS: Work is performed in a production facility and associated warehouses &/or laboratories. Work is performed on multi-levels with heights to 30 feet. Exposure to temperature extremes, high noise levels, wet conditions, heights, dust, moving equipment, vibrations, fumes, pedestrian traffic, blind corners, various working surfaces, etc. Work is performed around moving equipment, tanks, hazardous chemicals (e.g., flavor, oils, cleaning compounds, etc. Some work is performed outdoors with exposure to various types of weather.
