?? About the Role
Foxconn Assembly, LLC is seeking a talented Industrial Engineer to join our Operations team. This role is responsible for developing and supporting the production process of all assembly operations, with a strong focus on PCBA production, tooling design, yield improvements, and Design for Manufacturability (DFM). You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to optimize processes, drive efficiency, and support the transition from development to volume production.
?? Key Responsibilities
- Optimize and configure processes/equipment for surface mount electronics assemblies.
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to improve SMT process yield.
- Specify equipment requirements for new PCBA build processes.
- Develop DFM guidelines for PCBA designs.
- Provide solutions to streamline circuit board assembly and test processes.
- Hands-on with reflow soldering, selective soldering, and conformal coating.
- Collaborate with engineering teams during design, build, and test phases.
- Lead root-cause analysis and implement permanent resolutions for production issues.
- Develop robust test machinery with critical spares to ensure uptime.
- Assess schedule impacts for design/process changes.
- Maintain clear communication between design engineering and production teams.
- Confer with engineering/suppliers on tooling for efficient production.
- Apply lean manufacturing tools to improve methods, standards, and efficiency.
- Support product transition from development to volume production.
- Address manufacturing problems, parts obsolescence, and requirement changes.
- Prepare and maintain production documentation.
- Participate in design reviews with DFM/DFT recommendations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
?? Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 3+ years of direct experience in SMT or PCBA process engineering preferred.
- Hands-on experience with SMT pick & place, reflow ovens, conformal coating, or through-hole soldering systems.
- Strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous, start-up atmosphere.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work extended hours or off-shifts to meet production demands.
