Cloud Architect NYC, Remote for now until things change Long Term contract to Hire Job Description: This position serves as governance, oversight, reporting, and especially advice/consultation for the role of product, IT infrastructure, and overall technology continuity and recovery architecture management and governance (Line 2) across the firm; this role involves special emphasis on establishing the thought leadership and frameworks for more resilient and recoverable IT architectures, products, services, and supporting environments for the globally deployed portfolio of IHS Markit product lines, supporting infrastructures, and monitoring/response technology and processes. This includes a key accountability to drive foundational and reference technology architectures, that are business risk-accepted and cost-effective continuity and resiliency frameworks, into and across each of the company's businesses, operating environments, and third-part technology deployments across the company's globally distributed enterprise. This position will also provide coordination and oversight to major business initiatives and new regulatory and bulge-bracket customer mandates in the areas of continuity and resiliency management. These initiatives include the reengineering and integration of recovery capabilities across the firm along with the migration to the cloud of all the company's products and technology infrastructures globally over the next few years. The ideal candid ate must be highly analytical and possess sufficient technical, business continuity management, resiliency by design, incident response/recovery, architecture (including DR in the cloud architecture), and cyber-attack characteristics and impacts knowledge and experience to fully understand and mitigate the rapidly evolving global threat landscape threatening customers, other key company stakeholders, and the company's global operations. This person will also promote an understanding of the impacts emanating from disruptions anywhere within the operations of IHS Markit, its customers, or its third-parties, and the complex inter-dependencies that permit such disruptions to cascade up and down the company's value chain. The candidate must also be highly consultative in both methods and behaviour with highly refined experience and background to help address an expanding array of customer requirements, strategy and design alternatives, and testing scenarios for continuity and response management capabilities in an educational and proactive guidance business-supporting approach, heavily focussed on customer requirements. The role will require a high degree of coordination and leadership skills to operate effectively and with influence on product teams, disaster recovery teams, architecture and technology teams, incident response teams, and IT support and operational resources across the corporation, in addition to experts from key third-parties such as AWS and critical tool providers. The candidate will need to be an excellent communicator in order to address and drive effective comprehension and actions from personnel at all levels, including senior leadership. Specifically, his/her role must also fully understand and action a risk-based approach to resiliency, continuity, and incident response where senior business leaders are fully appraised of their continuity and incident response risks and alternative methods of mitigation to position them for effective risk-informed decisions. The role will partner closely with the Corporate Operational Risk/Resiliency team and operational risk and design teams in the various businesses and major business functions to tie risks to the various stages of architecting and developing continuity and response capabilities into the products, services, support infrastructures and processes, and other business operations of the company. The role will help to recruit and provide subject matter expertise as part of a team of operational resiliency, recoverability, technology, and incident response experts in the CISO team and in the businesses/departments and help coordinate their engagement with their respective businesses and departments (especially IT and Office of the CTO) across the company and globally. These experts collectively will facilitate the design, building, testing, and ongoing maintenance of continuity and incident management capabilities for products, services, and processes, based on customer and other stakeholder requirements, and prioritized by the company's most critical business lines and operating departments. Business competencies Education and experience Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related IT or Risk field Master's Degree preferred. Professional consultation experience and skills also preferred. Must have a comprehensive understanding of the evolving cyber threat landscape and how it now helps drive the disciplines of integrity, availability, and recoverability; specific cyber response and attack recovery experience strongly preferred. Must have a strong background in both technology/business continuity and incident response program governance processes. Must have a background in both Problem and Incident management and be intimately acquainted with the full incident management timeline and its related activities and milestones. Must have familiarity and background in the various operational risk management asset types including technology, data, people, product, business function, process, and facility operations. Must have experience in presenting and coordinating with managers at all levels of the organization. Must have background and experience as a professional in more than one operational risk discipline (especially Information Security and Business Continuity and potentially Incident Response/Management as well) certifications preferred among those various disciplines. Ability to assess different business models and technology architectures in order to effectively facilitate the design and development of cost-effective resiliency and recovery capability alternative architectures as well as the assessment of risk among these alternatives to ultimately facilitate the risk-based selection of the right risk-accepted solution architectures by the businesses.
