Job Title: VMware Engineer
Location: Onsite (2 days per week) Nashville, TN
Duration: 6+ Months (Contract to Hire)
Interview Type: Video Interview

Summary

We are seeking an experienced Nutanix Storage SME / VMware Engineer to develop and deliver Virtualization Infrastructure services and automation for mission-critical enterprise environments. The role involves designing, developing, and supporting virtualization platforms to enable agility and scalability, while mentoring team members in a DevOps environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation of Virtualization Infrastructure strategy to support CI/CD pipeline agility.
  • Identify and drive continuous system and process improvements.
  • Maintain and enforce enterprise standards for optimal, secure, and integrated solutions.
  • Support problem management and deliver root cause analysis reports.
  • Build and maintain vendor relationships and manage contracts.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs, processes, and internal training materials.
  • Manage and deliver internal infrastructure projects with cross-departmental coordination.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 6+ years of experience with Nutanix/VMware or other virtualization platforms.
    • 3+ years of DevOps experience using Agile SDLC methodology.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications: Preferred Nutanix, VMware, Microsoft Azure certifications.
  • Core Skills:
    • Virtualization: Nutanix, VMware
    • Scripting: Python, Bash, PowerShell, PowerCLI, JSON, YAML
    • Automation: Ansible, Terraform, SaltStack, Puppet
    • Cloud Platforms: Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Bluemix
    • Containers: Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, CI/CD Pipelines
    • Repositories: GitHub, BitBucket
    • OS Environments: Microsoft & Linux

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of storage, server, and networking technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps engineering practices.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles (incident, change, request, problem management).
  • Experience with observability frameworks, telemetry, and pipelines.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and business process comprehension skills.
