Role: Unix / Linux Admin Location: Chicago, IL Type of Hire: Contract Technical Skills: Must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills Experience to perform system installation, configuration and troubleshooting to normalize the impacted services Experience to manage IBM (AIX) Power systems and RHEL servers in a Mid to-large enterprise comprising of High-Availability (HA) clusters and Virtualized environment (IBM LPAR, PowerVM, VMware) Experience to Install and configure AIX/Linux operating systems and troubleshoot LPARs, VIO servers and RHEL/ SUSE on physical or virtual servers Experience in supporting critical business applications hosted on AIX/ Linux servers Experience to update/ upgrade and create procedures to manage vulnerability and security of Unix / Linux systems Proven Experience and knowledge on Veritas clustering and/or GPFS installation and administration on Unix (AIX)/Linux systems Systematic problem-solving approach coupled with a strong sense of ownership and drive Experience to design, lead and participate in Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery activities Sound experience in troubleshooting application and infrastructure-related incidents Experience to create and execute tasks via automation scripts; including testing, configuration management and incident remediation Sound knowledge and experience of networking protocols and services e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc., MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, SDN, OSI layers and load balancing. Experience in designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems Experience of Data Center Migration, Transformation and consolidation will be an advantage Experience in operational monitoring and management tools (e.g. Solarwinds, System Center, NimBUS, Zabbix, Grafana/Graphite, Nagios, etc is desired Flexible to work in 24 x7 environments including night shifts Previous working experience as a AIX & Linux Administrator of at least 8 years, in a mid-to-large-scale multi-geo organization, is desired Knowledge and expertise of OS clustering, partitioning and virtualization Should have good knowledge/ experience in managing multi Hypervisor Management Systems (e.g.VMware, AHV, KVM, HyperV. Experience with Storage (SAN, NAS, DAS) and Backup systems is desired Experience of managing one or more relational databases (e.g. DB2, Oracle, Terradata, Sybase, etc. Experience with non-relational databases (preferably Redis, Cassandra, and Solr) is an advantage Referral Program: Ask our recruiting team about how you can be a part of our referral program.
