We are looking for a Full-time contractor or employee for a Technical Writer role.
Job Description:
The Worker will perform advanced (senior-level) technical writing work related to implementing complex, emerging technology hardware and software projects for the Mainframe Transformation Program at the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), including work in documentation of deployed functionality for Production Support needs and process improvement activities. 
 
Duties include: development of and maintenance of technical manuals and non-technical user manuals; must be able to understand the user’s view of applications and/or technology and be able to put procedures in a logical sequence; development of scripts for video snippets that show users short self-help type actions for recently deployed system components; develop, update or review process documentation for complex IT systems. Will be responsible for documenting, updating, reviewing and storage of SOPs, Work Instructions, and procedures for complex IT systems and technology tools. Must be able to write a variety of technical articles, reports, brochures, and/or manuals for documentation for a wide range of uses. The work environment is very fast-paced, deliverable driven, and ever-changing. The Worker must be able to produce error-free deliverables as assigned and within deadlines. This role will work under limited to minimal direction, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Skills(Required) :
  • Technical Writing experience on software development projects including: the preparation of project related training outlines and materials, online help and written user manuals, and technical documentation of complex systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, analytical, written/verbal/ presentation communication skills in English (specifically technical writing); and well versed with MS Office suite of products and prototyping/screen mock-up tools such as Visio and SnapI
  • Experience with hands-on business area staff, vendor staff, and IT technical staff interaction to manage development of user and technical documentation.
  • Experience facilitating interactive sessions with business and cross functional teams.
  • Defining documentation design and systems specification outlines for approval, as needed; preparing/reviewing/delivering completed packages within deadlines.
  • Participating in and providing guidance to Business and Functional Units in approving developed documentation.

Skills(Preferred) :
  • Familiarity with mainframe environments; SQL; .Net development environment, Azure DevOps, Mulesoft, Informatica, and IDaaS (ForgeRock), and relational databases.
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Proven ability to work compatibly within multifaceted teams; resolve conflict; and deal with challenging situations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
