Summary:
- Linux operating system focused with strong knowledge of the following:
· Redhat 7/8
· Apache Tomcat 6/7
· Scripting experience
· Tools including Jenkins and Puppet
Design, maintain, operate, and administer servers and applications, mainly in a Linux Server environment. Monitor the performance of servers, software, and hardware in those environments, as well as perform upgrades, application patches, and deployments. Responsible for the operational documentation and architecture diagrams on systems assigned to the role.
SCOPE & IMPACT:
Responsible for the support and operations of the Linux environments, and to some level the applications that run on them. Some of the work required by this position is completed off hours and on weekends. System downtime can impact Retail, MFG. and corporate, impacting our productivity and sales.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related, with 2-4 years of related experience or equivalent.
· 4 + years of administering mainly in a Linux Server environment
· 2-4 years supporting a Tier 1 application (Payroll, Accounting, ERP, Sales, etc in a Primary Level 3 role
· Understanding of networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SSL/TLS, Layer 3 and Layer 7 load balancing, etc
· 2+ years of monitoring and proactive data center operations.
· Scripting and/or programming experience (Bash, Perl, Python, VBScript, Go, C, or C++
· Ability to work independently, plan workload and deliver on commitments
· Good communication skills
· Ability and desire to work in teams
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
· Extensive experience with VMWare or similar Virtual Machine platform
· Extensive experience with installation, monitoring, patching and support of Red Hat Linux Server
· Prior experience with log aggregation/monitoring tools and APM (Splunk, Logzilla, Loggly, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc
· Extensive experience in J2EE application servers (Tomcat, Jboss, Weblogic, etc
· Working understanding of basic administration of DB’s running on a Linux platform
· Experience with AWS and or Azure a plus
· Proven communication and organizational skills
· Ability to mentor others and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and collaborative environment
