Title Scrum master Location Chicago IL Job Type : Contract Job Description : Scrum Master Responsible for the administrative coaching and leadership roles that make Scrum development delivery possible Primary duties may include but are not limited Plans coordinates monitors and supports the implementation of multiple small to medium systems andor products Acts as a buffer between the team and process overhead so each team member can focus on the timely delivery of software Shields the team from interruptions and removes obstacles that may impact the delivery of the product Guides the teams operations by facilitating ceremonies eg Daily Scrum Sprint Planning Sprint Review Retrospective and instilling Agile principles into daily activities to ensure smooth functioning of the delivery team Facilitates internal and external communications eg task coordination progress trackingreporting dependency management Ensures team and external stakeholders are well informed on progress and activities To ensure smooth delivery tracks and removes any obstacles and barriers that may prevent progress The Scrum Master has primary responsibility of facilitating the learning and growth of one or more Agile teams in developing a lean Agile mindset improving practices and guiding them to more predictable delivery The Scrum Master plays a role in facilitating Agile ceremonies and planning of releases removing impediments providing guidance and supporting Agile teams Additional roles responsibilities include Backlog Management Practices Works with Product Owners and team members to learn and practice healthy backlog management and prioritization practices Coaches the team on the execution and improvement of backlog refinement Prepares for and facilitates release planning with teams Assists in dependency management and crossteam coordinationAgile Ceremony FacilitationFacilitates continuous improvement and the development of a learning culture on teams Facilitates ceremonies collaboration communication and conflict managementTeaches team members Agile mindset and frameworks practices and process Influences the organization in the removal of organizational impediments and development of healthy Agile practicesMentors Product Owners and team members in agile practices and continuous improvement Delivery Team Support Removes impediments to the teams ability to performActs as a buffer between external distractions to minimize disruptions and help the team to focusAssists in the coordination of operational issue resolution Facilitates team development mediates conflicts protecting the team and encourages healthy team dynamicsFosters team responsibility selfaccountability transparency and selforganizationLeverages coaching skills to help the team learn to solve its own problemsAdvice and Guidance Introduces and encourages team to explore healthy Agile development practices focus on quality and technical excellence predictable delivery automation and continuous deliveryTeaches and encourages a balanced backlog that delivers valuable features for customers reduces technical debt provides business value and enables product sustainabilityHelps the team to develop capture and analyze metrics to facilitate team improvementsPromotes transparency through healthy communications and data integrityQualificationsBachelors degree or equivalent combination of industry related professional experience and education13 years of working experience as a Scrum Master Working experience as part of an Agile team using one or more of the following Agile frameworks Scrum Extreme Programming XP or Kanban orking experience with Agile scaling frameworks preferably SAFe Scaled Agile FrameworkDesired ExperienceScrum Alliance CSM Scrumorg PSM1 or PMIACP certificationSAFe certified or experience or other scaled Agile frameworksStrong communication and collaboration skillsStrong problem solving and influe
