PenFed is hiring a Product Engineer, Digital Banking in Tysons, Virginia. This position plays a crucial role in the design, development, and continuous enhancement of our best-in-class mobile banking application and a behind-the-pin digital banking website. The focus is on developing and evolving member-centric self-service experiences throughout the member journey Discover, Explore, Buy, Use, Ask, and Engage. The Product Engineer is a unique blend of retail banking business and technical savvy, possessing a user-centric mindset. This is a hands-on product management position that works across the entire product lifecycle from discovery and ideation, user-experience design, process optimization, code development, implementation, delivery, post-launch support and ongoing improvement.

Influence Product Strategy: Identity opportunities and influence the product strategy and roadmap for our browser based online banking platform and mobile app, ensuring alignment with PenFed's overall business objectives and vision. Manage and execute the day-to-day product roadmap.
Drive Product Development: Hands on direct involvement in the creation of new digital banking products. Collaborate with engineering, design, and business teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Ensure products meet high standards of quality, user experience, and security.
Innovate and Iterate: Leverage cognitive computing technologies to innovate and enhance our banking products, making them more personalized, intelligent, and responsive to our members' needs.
Requirements and Documentation: Define and develop requirements (features, user stories, user acceptance criteria), value propositions for Digital Banking product experiences.
Experience Design: Collaborate with UX Design to create prototypes, user-interface mock-ups, product flows, personas and use cases for any given product or feature development effort. They strive to create seamless and intuitive user interfaces that enhance customer satisfaction and engagement.
Delivery Execution: Deliver customer value iteratively, managing products through various launch phases, and follow-on releases, by owning the backlog of enhancements, and determining the right feature to deploy at the right time - based on need, feasibility, budget, capacity, and Digital Banking Roadmap - and take responsibility for devising and executing the delivery plan.
Production Support: Anticipate issues with digital capabilities and experiences, solve problems proactively through communication and regular expectation-setting.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and alignment on product goals and deliverables.
Market and Competitive Analysis: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies. Incorporate insights into product development to maintain and enhance our competitive edge.
Analytics: Responsible for defining, establishing, and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and analytics to measure product performance, member engagement, and overall success of digital and cognitive banking initiatives.
Executive Communication: Author and curate, the collateral content, FAQs, presentations, white papers, or blogs that package the Digital Banking product experience and share expertise to Corporate Communications, Marketing, and Executive Leaders.
 
Education and Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in product development or product management within the retail banking space. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the consumer banking landscape and products (Checking and Savings/Personal Loans/Credit Cards/Money-Movement).
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in software development, preferably with experience using Salesforce or similar platforms to build customer-facing digital products.
Proven track record of delivering successful digital banking products, from ideation through to launch and iteration.
Deep expertise in user-experience for mobile apps, and service-delivery platforms.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering/ Information Technology, or a related field required, master's degree preferred.
Proficiency in agile development methodologies and experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, iterative product development environment.
Strong foundation in software engineering principles and technologies, with the ability to guide technical decisions and understand the complexities of building digital banking solutions.
Expert-level understanding of product lifecycle management, market analysis, and customer-centric design thinking. Ability to translate customer needs into product features and prioritize them for development.
Exceptional writing skills, with ability to clearly articulate ideas, product features, and technical concepts in written form for all audiences.
Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience preferred
