Position Overview
The client is seeking a highly skilled Programmer Analyst (SME-level) specializing in Oracle SQL/PL-SQL to support data conversion efforts for corrections-based information systems. This role will partner closely with user groups and technical teams to analyze requirements, validate business rules, and ensure accurate migration and transformation of mission-critical data.
This position offers remote flexibility; however, onsite presence is mandatory on occasion to collaborate with users and stakeholders. Candidates must be willing and able to report onsite when requested.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, review, and optimize SQL and PL-SQL code to support data conversion initiatives
Analyze business rules and translate them into accurate technical logic and workflows
Collaborate with business users to clarify end-user requirements and ensure proper alignment with system functionality
Provide technical documentation and support throughout project phases
Respond to inquiries from MDOC staff to ensure functional accuracy and data integrity
Deliver assigned work within agreed timelines and support overall project goals
Required Skills & Experience
SME-level experience in SQL/Oracle programming (7+ years) — including strong PL/SQL development abilities
Advanced Business Analyst skills (requirements interpretation, technical logic validation, end-user rules mapping)
Professional degree or equivalent practical experience
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with corrections, government data systems, or large-scale data conversion
Knowledge of Mississippi Code or sentencing-related business rules (helpful but not required)
