Job Title : PL/SQL Programmer Analyst – Sentence Computation

Position Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Programmer Analyst (SME level) to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the Sentence Computation system. This role will work closely with business users and technical teams to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of sentencing business rules. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in Oracle PL/SQL and business rule analysis, with a strong ability to translate sentencing guidelines into system logic.
This position is primarily remote but requires periodic onsite meetings, therefore candidates must be willing and able to travel when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze, interpret, and implement complex sentencing business rules within MDOC’s systems
Write, review, test, and optimize SQL and PL/SQL code for the Oracle database
Act as a liaison between user groups and technical teams to gather and clarify requirements
Review technical logic to ensure compliance with Mississippi sentencing laws and policies
Provide documentation, troubleshooting, and occasional support to MDOC staff
Ensure timely delivery of enhancements and resolution of issues aligned with project timelines
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years (SME) experience as a SQL/Oracle programmer
Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL development
Strong Business Analyst experience, including requirements gathering and workflow interpretation
Demonstrated ability to analyze code for business rule alignment (e.g., sentencing guidelines)
Professional degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
Preferred Skills
Experience supporting government or criminal justice information systems
Understanding of Mississippi state sentencing guidelines and corrections policies
Strong documentation skills and experience working in cross-functional teams
