Required Skills
Minimum 10 years of hands-on COBOL programming experience in IBM mainframe environments.
Proven track record working with legacy mainframe platforms ? IBM zOS, JCL, CICS, DB2, and/or VSAM.
Ability to independently read, understand, and modify complex existing COBOL codebases on mainframe systems.
Experience analyzing, maintaining, and modifying legacy COBOL applications on IBM mainframe platforms.
Experience implementing changes to COBOL programs based on regulatory and policy requirements.
Experience supporting large-scale or mission-critical mainframe applications.
Strong communication, documentation, and knowledge transfer skills.
Familiarity with government or federal mainframe systems is a plus.
Preferred Skills
Prior federal government or Social Security Administration (SSA) project experience.
Experience with modernization or migration of legacy COBOL systems.
Familiarity with Social Security-related systems or similar government applications.
Experience documenting mainframe job flows and providing technical knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Experience supporting testing and validation of COBOL modules within mainframe environments.
Ability to collaborate with internal mainframe developers and cross-functional stakeholders.
Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
