Job Title: Software Engineer II-Cobol Applications Developer

Location: 1st Avenue East, Milan, Illinois, USA, 61264

Period: 16+ Months (Probability to extend)

Pay Rate: $64/hr

1st shift position. Start time is flexible between 7 am and 8 am.

Hours per Week: 40

As a Software Engineer for the Parts Distribution Center, located in Milan, IL

you will participate in an agile scrum team who provides development and technical support for Finance Cobol applications and interfaces that support the Finance continuation train. In addition, you will:

Work closely with product owners and product managers to understand requirements and priorities

Perform development and implementation of technical solutions to deliver on User Stories

Assist in resolution of IT technical issues in the product team

Collaborates with team members and stakeholders to ensure solutions meet business needs.

Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology. Proven Technical Skills and Experiences

3 or more years of experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions in Cobol development leveraging change management

3 or more years of understanding of mainframe applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints

Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment

Experience working in some or all of these Cobol based systems and databases:

Cobol, JCL, ESP, SQL, MQ, IMS, DB2

Knowledge of John Deere mainframe environment (preferred) Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaming Competencies

Proven experience working in a team environment

Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders to provide information technology solutions

Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution Education (or equivalent work experience)

Bachelor's degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering

Software Engineer II

MAJOR PURPOSE:
Works on a product team and supports product design by planning its work,
coordinating with others, and writing and testing code to deliver moderately
complex functionality on a complete product or significant portion of a
product it supports. This level develops simple designs to solve well-defined
problems with guidance from more senior team members. May assign, coordinate
and review portions of the work to support personnel; Makes decisions within
established guidelines subject to review by supervisors; Executes high level
applications to more complex problems.
MAJOR DUTIES: Description of the major duties performed in this job.
* Develops, codes, configures, and tests programs and systems.
* Evaluates and implements enhancement design solutions to improve cost,
quality, and performance of software applications.
* Analyzes assignments and determines software specifications that must be
fulfilled to achieve objectives.
* Executes necessary documentation, as directed, or needed.
* Collaborates with other relevant stakeholders and team members to ensure
that features meet business needs.
* Follows industry-standard agile software design methodology for development
and documentation.

* Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
