Title: Software Developer
Location: Melville, NY
Duration: 8-10 months
JOB OVERVIEW:
This position is responsible to define, develop, test, analyze and maintain new software applications and reporting as well as maintaining and updating existing applications and reports in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding and testing of applications and reports. Research, design, document and modify moderately complex software specifications. Create functional specifications for complex requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design, develop, modify, debug and implement short- and long-term solutions to IT needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure for use throughout the Company.
Analyze existing programs or formulate logic for new systems, devise logic procedures, prepare flowcharting, perform coding and test/debug programs.
Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
Develop system implementation plans.
Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.
Help prepare test plans with QA.
Strong ability to work with remote teams
Maintain Project Life Cycle (PLC) standards.
Recommend changes in development, maintenance and system standards.
Train users in implementation of system.

Seasoned, experienced senior level professional; in-depth knowledge and full understanding of two or more disciplines and good knowledge of other related disciplines. Strong judgment and analytical ability, evaluation, originality and ingenuity required to perform tasks. Know and apply the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Resolve a wide range of issues and assignments in creative ways. Assignments are typically broad in nature. Serve as a resource to others to resolve complex problems and issues. May take on project lead role on small scale projects.
COMPLEXITY:
Work on complex issues/projects where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Use best practices and knowledge of business issues and strategic direction to solve complex problems where precedent may not exist; recommend solutions to business challenges. Demonstrate strong judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Network with senior internal and external personnel inside and outside own area of expertise.
MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Typically 8 to 10 or more years of increasing responsibility in terms of any applicable professional experience.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Typically a Bachelor''s Degree or global equivalent in related discipline. Master''s degree or global equivalent a plus. May hold one or more industry certifications.

Technical proficiency in specific languages and development tools, as follows:
AS/400:
5 years’ experience and highly proficient in RPG, RPG-ILE, CL, SQL, AS/400 environments, DDM, DB2 Database, XML, FTP, SFTP and Web Services
5 years’ experience on supporting business critical production environment
5 years’ of experience on working with distribution business systems, work experience on warehouse application product a plus
5 years’ experience on change management process, tools like aldon or turnover a plus
3 years’ experience in translating Business requirements to understandable IT systems requirements
2 years’ experience integrating application systems with iSeries
2 years’ experience on reverse engineering and documenting legacy application
2 years’ experience with agile methodologies, managing backlogs and sprints
2 years’ experience on data migration from legacy application
