This team has a ton of migrations or deployments or installations over the next year.
Candidates with skill sets in automation or scripting-Powershell, NaAs centric-Hadoop big plus.
Then candidates also with traditional storage orientation.
Day to Day:
Project work -Must show initiative-self-starter -working with virtual teams The Client’s Digital Storage Engineering team supports more than 2000 internal applications including ERP, CRM, Data Warehousing, Messaging, Big Data, and much more.
The Storage Engineering team leverages Client’s flagship hardware and software products.
Client’s team is responsible for delivering petabytes of storage spanning hundreds of arrays across a network of Global Data Centers and protecting that stored data.
This is a midlevel position within the IT Organization at Client, the world leader in Storage Technology.
An ideal candidate must demonstrate knowledge and experience on Client’s EMC enterprise products.
This team member will participate in driving the next generation of Client’s Digital storage and data protection solutions and services globally.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and document storage infrastructure standards.
Intake, planning and provisioning, and daily operations storage and data protection services.
Storage and data protection capacity and performance management.
Proactive and preventative maintenance activities on storage and data protection infrastructure.
Continuous and accurate documentation of storage infrastructure deployments and operational guides.
Mentoring and developing storage and data protection services team members.
Participate in proofs of concept and beta testing efforts, documenting findings and contributing to related services planning and development of Client’s EMC product lines.
Critical Hiring Criteria - Required Skills:
Hands on experience with enterprise storage infrastructure and storage services.
Experience with enterprise configuration management, change management, and incident management.
Relevant experience in storage administration and/or data protection.
Hands on experience in enterprise block and/or file services.
Hands on experience with Brocade and/or Cisco SAN fabric switches.
Hands on experience administering storage with Linux, Windows, VMWare, Pivotal, Oracle, SQL, and NoSQL platforms.
Hands on experience with Client’s EMC storage product lines (PowerMAX, Unity, Compellent Storage Center, ECS, and/or Isilon
Hands on experience with software defined storage solutions such as VMware vSAN, ScaleIO (VXFlexOS), Nutanix or similar.
Ability to act independently, under minimal direction.
Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
Ability to prioritize projects and/or deliverables.
Ability to analyze information and draw accurate conclusions including the ability to discuss product architecture and features with internal product teams and external customers.
Motivates others and imparts knowledge appropriately throughout the entire organization.
Technologist in the storage and backup and archiving fields including in-depth, functional knowledge.
Ability to convert manual workflows to automation utilizing CI or CD principles within the VMWare vRealize Suite
