Job Position (134): Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support our one of the Federal Client. The system is designed to ingest Sentinel mission data products from the European Space Agency (ESA) and make them available to a selected set of Distributed Active Archive Centers for distribution to the earth science user community. The system is currently in operation ingesting and distributing large volume of Sentinel data products in the order of several terabytes per week.

As a member of the operation support team the candidate will support system’s daily operation activities including, but not limited to, application jobs configuration, application workflow monitoring, system health monitoring, operations metrics collection and reporting, data reconciliation with the data hub and the Distributed Active Archive Centers, diagnosing/troubleshooting operations issues, and supporting operations maintenance. The qualified candidate will also support the system’s development team in the areas of system integration testing, acceptance testing, and application release deployment. The candidate will work on site at Maryland.

Job Description:
This Program is looking for a Software Engineer to work in a fast-paced Agile development environment performing UI UX design and implementation on several large applications.

Job Responsibilities:
1. As a member of the team you will design and assist in the development of several web-based system, including requirement gathering and estimation.
2. Comply with various project standards and requirements of the company as well as the customer and legal requirements of (SEC-508
3. Ensure industry best practices and assets are leveraged when necessary.

Required Skills:
1. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in core design concepts (composition & layout, color theory, typography, etc
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience with wireframing and light technical documentation.
3. An understanding of applications, user interfaces, interactions and all things application and web-related.
4. Ability to take a design from concept to wireframe to pixel perfect.
5. Understanding of the iterative design process.
6. Full understanding of HTML5/CSS/jQuery (ability to hand-code semantic markup and style it)
7. Energetic, self motivated, team player

Desired Skills:
1. Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite (JIRA for bug tracking, Confluence for collaboration, and preferably Bamboo for continuous integration and delivery
2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good experience in preparing IT technical documents.
