Software Development Engineer in Test - Durham NC

(6 month – to open ended contract 2+ years)

$50-65 an hour W2

Client is seeking a talented Software Engineer in Test or a Web QA Automation Engineer to join a team that is building responsive web designs. As a member of the team you’ll with your team members to provide solutions that meet not only functional, but also performance, scalability and reliability requirements. You will be expected to work as a member of a high functioning Scrum team to help drive the next generation user experience for our the customer facing website.

Primary Responsibilities

Work as an Agile team member to provide solutions to business stories (requirements) including automated test scenarios

Participate in understanding and grooming of user stories, create QA tasks, test cases, and functional automation

Participate in product demos at iteration reviews

Log defects/issues and work with team members to ensure resolution

The ideal candidate for this role will have the following skills and/or knowledge

Experience or excellent knowledge of writing Java test scripts using a Selenium automation framework

Experience or knowledge of testing web applications and WebServices (REST API’s)

Experience or understanding of Agile software development methodology using Scrum

BDD experience or knowledge – Gherkin experience is a strong plus

Hands-on software QA testing experience

Strong understanding of QA engineering, analysis, and testing concepts

Strong problem identification and solving skills

Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Excellent written and verbal communication skills is a must

Experience or knowledge of SQL queries

Strong understanding of defect tracking tools and processes

Familiarity with SOAP UI a plus

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related discipline.

Ability to work in a culture of collaboration and teamwork
