Position Role: Computational Linguistics
Duration: Long Term Contract / Full Time
Location: Cupertino, CA – 95014
End Client: Apple Inc.
Languages: (Hebrew OR Spanish OR French OR German OR Telugu OR Tamil OR Punjabi) + English.

Notes from client:
Linguistic Degree with CS Knowledge is a must
Linguistic Experience with Coding, NLP, Language Scripts
Regular expressions is good to have but not a must.
Speech Recognition is good to have but not a must (added advantage
Ability in writing Phonetics Sequences, Phonology and helping in finding out the issues in Models or training Data.

Join the team that localizes natural languages in Siri, Apple’s personal assistant technology for iPhone, as well as, other cloud based services. Our team is responsible for teaching Siri how to understand and speak new languages. We are a deeply diverse and passionate group dedicated to bringing the future of intelligent assistants to the world. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate, with a sensibility for foreign languages to join our team.

Description:
An ideal candidate has experience and passion for working with language data and the ability to help create, categorize, audit, and improve lexical data.
Developing natural language processing code specific to your language.
Leverage the power of large amount of data to solve complex NLP.
Provide input and suggestions towards innovating new approaches and new product features tailored to your home market.
Automating and integrating workflow from diverse systems.
Recording audio and creating audio tests
Reviewing tests and identifying fixes

Key Qualifications:
Native language XX
Excellent knowledge of structural aspects of the language (syntax, semantics, phonology, phonetics)
Strong linguistic comprehension
Up-to-date exposure to popular native culture and the ability to use that knowledge to inform data analysis
Previous experience working with language data (e.g. research, analysis, translation, review)
NLP experience
Familiar with Java, python and shell scripting is a plus
Experience using OS X or iOS software is a plus
Good organizational and analytical skills
Excellent English skills, other language skills are a plus
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proven ability to manage priorities
Experience with one or more version control systems with a preference for Git

Education:
B.S/MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields or Degree in Computational linguistics
