Role: Wi-Fi Tester

Location: Mountainview, CA (Onsite from Day1)

Duration: 12+Months Contract

Tax term: W2/C2C

Job Description

Contractor will provide automation engineering services, including but not limited to:

Perform tasks pertaining to automation.

Software automation using tools like Python and Expect.

Write new command line tools in C/C++, Java, Python, and/or Go.

Parsing data bases and create dashboards using SQL and Google Plx.

Write shell scripts and customize as needed to validate devices on the network.

Generate throughput, KPI, and other performance metrics for the devices being

tested.

Scope / Timeline / Sample task-list

The candidate will primarily work on automating test cases related to wireline

and wireless networks involving devices such as OLT, ONT, routers, switches,

WiFi6 CPEs and Fixed Wireless Access equipment in a lab setting.

The candidate will also develop automation around Google Fiber internal

OSS/BSS systems.

The candidate will validate the test cases can run properly in the Google Fiber

automation environment.

The candidate will work with professional lab test equipment such as traffic

generators i.e., Spirent Test Center or IXIA connecting to their programming

interfaces.

The candidate will develop an automation framework for lab test setups and

OSS integration.

The candidate will develop new command line tools to configure services,

monitor status and collect statistics ideally written in Java or Python or Go.

Job Description & Requirements

Sound knowledge of software design and development practices, automation

pipelines, build environments is required.

The candidate must be able to develop and document test plans and test cases.

Background in software automation using tools such as Python and Expect is

required.

Ability to write scripts to automate manual tasks on the network is required.

Ability to customize scripts and run experiments, generate reports and

dashboards is required.

The candidate will generate throughout/KPI/other performance metrics and

statistics for the devices being tested, compile test reports, to help prepare

presentations.

The candidate must have good problem solving skills.

Good documentation skills are required.

Preferences:

Good knowledge of TCP-IP, and L2 networking / switches, wireshark debugging

tools is required. Familiarity with L3-networking / routers is a plus.

Good knowledge of WiFi6 and/or other wireless protocols is a plus.

Prior experience with wireline and wireless device testing is a plus.

Familiarity with lab test equipment such as Spirent Test Center, IXIA, Octoscope

or IxVeryWave is desired.

Familiarity with or prior experience with Google development and test tools

such as Bazel, and/or Blaze, TestTracker, Sponge is a plus
