Job Title :Senior Data Modeler

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Modeler with a deep understanding of data modeling, SQL, and P&C Insurance (Property & Casualty) to join our dynamic team in New Jersey. In this critical role, you will work closely with our Data Architecture and Data Management teams to design, implement, and maintain robust data solutions that align with our business objectives. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure Services and be proficient in creating relational and dimensional data models, while adhering to best practices and standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Modeling: Design and implement data models for relational and dimensional databases, ensuring solutions meet the specific needs of the business.
- Collaboration with Architects: Partner with Data Architects to develop and refine database structures, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines.
- Evaluation and Optimization: Review and reverse-engineer existing project data systems to create “as-is” models and provide actionable insights for improvements.
- Standards & Guidelines: Contribute to the establishment and evolution of data modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices within the organization.
- Leadership: Lead offshore teams in creating source-to-target mappings based on established data models, ensuring accurate and efficient implementation.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain clear and thorough documentation of data models, design decisions, and technical specifications.
- Data Governance: Ensure adherence to Enterprise Data Standards, naming conventions, and best practices for data design.
- Business Alignment: Work with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into data-driven solutions that support analytical and reporting needs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Data Modeling Expertise: Strong experience in creating Conceptual, Logical, Physical, and Dimensional models using tools such as Erwin or similar.
- SQL Proficiency: Expertise in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance.
- Database Design & Normalization: Proven experience in Database Design, including normalization, data normalization techniques (e.g., 3NF), and best practices for enterprise-level systems.
- P&C Insurance Knowledge: Solid understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance data systems and related business processes.
- Azure Services: Experience working with Azure Data Services and cloud-based data solutions.
- Collaboration: Strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including Data Architects, DBAs, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to handle large volumes of data with precision, ensuring quality and accuracy in all data modeling activities.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in ACORD standards and related insurance industry data models.
- Previous experience leading offshore teams and managing distributed work environments.
- Familiarity with ETL processes and data integration techniques.
