Role Overview
The client is seeking an experienced Tech Operations Manager / Senior Manager to support small molecule drug substance (API) development and manufacturing within a GMP environment. This role will serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for external manufacturing activities and provide technical leadership for commercial process change initiatives and investigations.
Key Responsibilities

Serve as SME for small molecule DS (API) manufacturing in a GMP commercial environment.

Lead and support process change activities for drug substances, intermediates, and raw materials.

Own and resolve investigations in a timely manner, functioning as SME throughout.

Collaborate closely with external contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to:

Assess capabilities and capacity constraints
-
Develop plans to secure manufacturing capacity
-
Provide technical oversight during GMP campaigns
-
Work cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, and external manufacturing partners to align on deliverables and timelines.

Produce strong technical documentation and deliver analytical problem-solving recommendations.
-
Exercise independent judgment and take ownership of outcomes.
Required Qualifications
-
6–8+ years of experience in small molecule DS (API) manufacturing as an SME in a GMP environment.

Direct experience supporting commercial product lifecycle management.

Proven track record leading process changes and technical investigations.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Operations, or related field.
-
Demonstrated ability to operate independently with minimal guidance, in a fast-paced and evolving environment.

Strong written communication skills and the ability to generate high-quality technical documentation.
