About the Role
The client is seeking a Senior Data Center Engineer to support critical infrastructure operations at our Broomfield, Colorado facility. This onsite role is essential to maintaining the availability, performance, and integrity of our data center environment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing mission-critical infrastructure and thrives in a hands-on operational setting where precision, reliability, and safety are paramount.
This position plays a key part in ensuring that data center policies, processes, equipment, and operational standards are consistently upheld. You will be responsible for supporting physical infrastructure, coordinating vendor activities, maintaining accurate systems and documentation, and ensuring that environmental, cooling, and power requirements are met across the facility.
Role Overview
As a Senior Data Center Engineer, you will design and prepare data center white space, ensuring that power availability, rack capacity, airflow, cooling, and infrastructure standards are properly maintained. You will support the full lifecycle of IT assets, from installation and cabling through ongoing operation and retirement, with strict adherence to TIAA guidelines for handling sensitive information.
The role requires strong troubleshooting capabilities and a systematic approach to resolving equipment issues. You will oversee onsite cabling vendors, manage daily workload and after-hours support, and maintain operational work requests through ServiceNow. Additional responsibilities include moving and installing equipment, racks, and materials within the data center, creating CAD templates, and supporting high-density deployment planning.
You will maintain and update asset information in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), along with CAD and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) floor plans and elevations. The role includes preparing electrical quotes, managing circuit installations, configuring power distribution, maintaining PDU schedules, and serving as the first responder for connectivity, power, and cooling issues. Participation in on-call rotations is required.
This position also plays a role in evaluating and selecting new technology solutions for data center operations, tracking inventory and supplies, and monitoring environmental, security, and system alerts. Partnership with facilities and MEP providers is an important component to ensure seamless operation of the data center environment.
What You Bring
You have a minimum of five years of experience supporting, maintaining, and installing mission-critical infrastructure in a data center environment. You are highly collaborative, comfortable working with peers, engineers, vendors, and operational teams, and experienced in delivering reliable technical support.
You bring strong knowledge of IT infrastructure hardware, how it is designed, deployed, and maintained, and you are capable of working in physically demanding environments. You are proficient with CAD and DCIM tools and understand how to use them for white-space planning and capacity analysis. You are also experienced with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and Zoom.
Clear communication, strong documentation skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential. A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
