MARKET JOB TITLE: Validation Test Engineer
LOCATION: The candidate must be based in the Austin TX area as they will be in the office on a daily basis.
ESTIMATED DURATION: Initially 12 months but can be extended to 24 months. Contract to full time conversion is always an option, but not guaranteed.
ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE: M-F 8am - 5pm

* What level of experience do you have with Microsoft Server OSes, VMWare ESXi OSes, and/or Linux OSes?
Must Haves:
* In depth familiarity of Microsoft Server OSes, VMWare ESXi, Red Hat, SuSE, and Ubuntu Linux operating systems * Experience with server storage technology, including PCIe, SAS and RAID is preferred. * Must have a solid understanding of hardware and software interactions and be able to apply this understanding to resolve issues. * Detail-oriented with attention to product quality. * Strong verbal and written communication. * Ability to manage multiple programs and/or areas simultaneously. * Strong problem solving and analysis skills. * Ability in organizing and managing multiple projects, setting priorities and working independently under aggressive timelines. * Able to easily achieve mastery of new tools, languages and operating systems. * Ability to work under date-driven schedules. * Proficient in reading and understanding technical data sheets and specifications. * Must be physically able to lift servers to assist in racking server and storage equipment.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The position is for a Validation Test Engineer to work in the Server Storage engineering team. The Server Storage engineering team develops emerging server storage solutions spanning multiple implementations, including Hardware RAID solutions, Software RAID, and PCIe SSD products within DellEMC’s Server and Infrastructure Systems organization. The Server Storage organization is closely tied to other development organizations, including the server and storage enclosure platform teams, operating system teams, systems management and mechanical teams.
The Validation Test Engineer is responsible for working on special assignments and prototype projects that are moderately complex in nature, where good judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations. They will work from developed test plans and also written or verbal instructions. They will work in a team environment but will often execute their tasks independently. In addition, they will independently construct, troubleshoot, and test prototype assemblies as well as assist engineers in test phase of prototype systems. Responsibilities will be to test early development level solution components and triage issues found during test.
Accountabilities
* Perform design verification and characterization on Dell’s server storage products.
* Troubleshoot and repair systems to the component level.
* Set up, configure, and test prototype systems and software.
* Perform specified test plans.
* Perform functional tests and analyze newly developed systems to ensure operation and reliability.
* Assemble and disassemble prototype systems as necessary.
* Assist other technicians in completing assigned tasks.
* Able to work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
