Natural ADABAS Developer

One software developer is being solicited by TDI to perform work on legacy modernization projects in a natural ADABAS application to serve the business needs of the Division of Workers' Compensation (DWC). Emphasis of work performed shall be on data migration efforts. The work will include, but is not limited to, assessing user requirements/stories and translating them into technical tasks and actual script development to identify data elements in a natural ADABAS application, establish new table structure in Oracle 19c, and write scripts to move the data to the new tables. This effort will involve close collaboration with other members of the project team, including but not limited to the application architect, other developers, and the database administrator. Additionally, database views may be created for use in Tableau to assist with comprehensive agency business intelligence needs. Contract staff will also be responsible for writing technical documentation. The worker should have strong knowledge of and experience working on software development projects and general project lifecycle. The contract staff shall work on an agile scrum team, participating in regular meetings, work sessions, and interactions with the business owners and the project team. They should be a self-starter with experience working in a virtual collaborative setting with an agile scrum development team. The worker should possess strong written and oral presentation skills, with abilities to help present work done in an application. This work will extend to at least one project to migrate data, data collection, and reporting to an agency application from two different existing processes but may also include other projects as determined by time remaining in contract. Any and all project work will include workflows, business processes, and other functionality originating from DWC and identified as a legacy modernization effort.

Working as a software developer on software application development projects, either as enhancements or ground-up initiatives

Coding using the following tools: Attachmate EXTRA!, Natural 8.3, Adabas 6.5, Unix AIX 7.2, Cronus Espbatch Job Scheduler, SCL (JCL) System Control Language, Oracle 19c database, SQL, PL/SQL, and SVN (version repository)

Eliciting requirements from end users and interpreting epics and user stories, then translating them to functional tasks for technical staff

Following requirements and user stories end-to-end to guarantee proper delivery of requested functionality

Writing technical documentation

Testing applications and underlying data to ensure user requirements are met

Using Microsoft Teams or other collaboration tool to communicate and work within a team

Working on an agile scrum team as a software developer

Estimating work and sizing tasks for sprint development

Writing user documentation

Experience with NearStar print management and EntireX by SoftwareAG

Experience working on Java applications

Working as a software developer with Texas Department of Insurance applications
