POSITION: Technical Release Manager (TRM)

Our client is looking for a Technical Release Manager (TRM). This role will be responsible for coordinating and propagating release code changes required for DreamWorks Animation movie pipelines across pre-production and various production environments on-premise as well as on Azure Cloud.
The TRM will be responsible for Application Deployments and Configuration Management that support mostly java, python webapp and Go programming languages. PSO SD team utilizes various tools including Spinnaker, Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, GitHub and in-house micro services to support CI/CD pipelines. This resource will have the opportunity to work across various RnD teams as well as production technology involved in making Animation Movies within the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
? In charge of managing release cycles and deliverables from Platform Operations perspective and working with stakeholders across the organization ? Attending regular release sign off meetings with various stakeholders ? Prepare release notes and deployments for staging and production environments while maintaining configuration management and resolving merge conflicts across various repositories.
Analyze and execute Pre / Post Deployment steps and destructive changes.
? Maintain all DevOps pipeline automation configurations ? Pull Request review & approval process (DryRun through Prod go-live) ? Lead the release approval process and JIRA tickets from the start until completion.
? Work with other SD engineers to execute and be hands-on with back-end application deployments across production shows. Troubleshoot any issues that may arise and investigate the root cause as it pertains to our CI/CD pipeline and toolset (Jenkins, Ansible, Spinnaker, K8S
clusters)
? Have sufficient expertise with java/python/webbapps and bash scripting to be able to enhance platform side operational scripts as it relates to supporting deployments, troubleshoot application logs, validate deployments, monitoring and run integration tests ? Point of contact for the development groups to triage issues that arise related to releases
Qualifications:
? 3-5 years experience in release management for production environments’ software applications adhering to best practices of SDLC.
? Excellent communication and collaboration skills ? 2+ years experience working in a fast-paced Agile environment ? Minimum 2 years experience in operational support for Java applications ? Experience in using an industry standard source control management systems preferably GIT ? Experience in Jenkins, Ansible and monitoring tools such as DataDog is highly desired.
? 1-3 years experience working with containerized orchestration systems such as Kubernetes, Microsoft AKS, RedHat Openshift is desirable.
? Understanding and experience working with microservices and distributed transactions (rabbitMq, kafka, etc) in a debugging and testing capacity.
? Some knowledge in Java and web application frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, Angular etc.
? Experience performing backend database verifications using SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g.
running queries)
