Role: Technical PM 3

Location – Redmond, WA (Onsite)

 

Additional Skills:

 

  • Need a Program Manager to work on our Microsoft Surface Duo product line, which is an Android-based device.
  • We are looking for a feature-team PM to help our engineering-systems team to manage our team scope, our technical requirements, work backlog (scrum), and help us prioritize and communicate our backlog to partners.
  • Our customers are the internal Surface Development team.
  • Our team supports our product by building Android Operating System for our devices -- the OS experienced by our customers.
  • We interface directly with partners like Google and Qualcomm, and take continual code updates from those partners.

 

Required:

 

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps, Team Foundation Server, or similar work tracking systems.
  • Experience with Git source repositories (understanding of code branches) and the mechanics of merging codebases.
  • Experience with validation gates and change requests.
  • Experience shipping products.
  • Experience managing sprints and backlogs.
  • Communications with large engineering teams, including sprint burndown charts and powerpoint summaries.
  • Release management capabilities.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience with Engineering Systems and Build Systems.
  • General experience with Google Android, Qualcomm devices (phones) or similar.
  • Experience shipping a consumer electronic device.
  • Experience PM'ing firmware teams, OS composition, or similar feature teams.

 

Qualification:

 

  • 4-8 years of project management experience, Master's degree preferred, PMI Certification required.
  • Knowledge/background in software industry products/services/applications, with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft's products/services/applications preferred.
  • Must possess strong cross team/group/org collaboration skills; ability to foresee and analyze project risks, develop risk management plan and mitigate subsequent issues.
  • The ideal candidate will have high-powered analytical skills and the ability to understand concepts and situations that pass by many others.
  • Specialized knowledge as defined by project required.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, experience working with external vendors, strong project management skills, and demonstrated success in adult learning and training principles/skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.

 

Job Description:

 

  • Using PMO best practices and standards, partner with the Microsoft product/program managers to facilitate a project management process to fit their needs, and oversee and execute on that process/plan. 
  • Create, maintain and control the project schedule and dashboard, facilitate meetings, and proactively identify risks to the project. 
  • Shepherd the Project Team through the Release process, being mindful of all requirements. 
  • Facilitate program communications, identify and implement continuous improvement practices, and provide regular status reports as required.
