The Department of Commerce’s Labor and Economic Analysis Division (LEAD) is seeking an Expert Tableau Developer tore-envision and deliver interactive data visualizations and lay-friendly analytical tools in Tableau.
*The candidate will work remotely for the duration of the engagement.
*The candidate will need to come onsite the first day tocollect equipment and for an onboarding.
The Department of Commerce’s Laborand Economic Analysis Division (LEAD) is seeking an Expert Tableau Developer tore-envision and deliver interactive data visualizations and lay-friendlyanalytical tools in Tableau. This is an end-user and business-facing role, andthe candidate will have regular interactions with stakeholders. The workproducts will be public-facing and therefore must be user-friendly andpolished.
Key Responsibilities:
?Collaborate with business owners,end users, and other stakeholders to identify needs and goals and workcollaboratively to design and build dashboards.
?Collaborate to design impactfuldashboards and reports.
?Advise on visualization bestpractices and performance optimization strategies. In particular, advise datamanagers regarding the most efficient and expandable data file structures tosupport current and potential future visualizations.
?Perform development activities fromgathering requirements and designing solutions, to developing code/reports, toguiding agency personnel through testing and release/deployment.
?Develop all resources as turnkeyproducts, such that agency personnel will have both the required knowledge anddocumentation to continue managing and modifying the visualizations as needed.Document processes, transformations, computations, and key decision points indetail. Conduct the necessary knowledge transfer.
?As needed, develop Tableau Prepworkflows for data cleaning, transformation, aggregation, etc.
?Manage multiple, variable tasks anddata review processes with limited supervision within targeted timelines andthrive in a demanding, quickly changing environment.
?Communicate frequently andsubstantively with the agency project manager to ensure efficient use of timeand resources.
Minimum Qualifications:
?Experience configuring Tableau tosupport scaling Tableau usage to the enterprise – this may includeoperationalizing a governance framework for Tableau assets, developing reportsto provide transparency around asset usage etc.
?8 years’ experience leveragingTableau to deliver dashboards and reporting capabilities at enterprise scale.
?Tableau certification(s) preferred
?Experience using Tableau Prep fordata preparation / lightweight integration & transformation
?At least 10 years working with data(data engineering, Data scientist, BI analyst, BI developer etc
?Government experience preferred, eitheras employee or contractor.
?Proficiency with SQL and/or otherquery languages and understanding of data warehouse environments and relationaldatabase management systems. Ability to write complex queries, joins.
?Experience designing and developingreporting solutions/dashboards in a professional environment.
?Demonstrated ability to apply bestpractices in visualization techniques to design meaningful and impactfuldashboards/reporting solutions.
?Excellent communication skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team with proven ability toinfluence with impact across functions and disciplines.
?Ability to manage multipleprojects/deadlines, identifying the necessary steps and moving forward throughcompletion.
