Job Title : Senior AWS Cloud Platform Engineer

Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team supporting Ally Financial. This role focuses on optimizing and supporting cloud infrastructure, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving strategic cloud initiatives using AWS. Candidates must bring hands-on expertise in AWS services, Terraform, cloud infrastructure, and Python.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate complex, matrixed environments. Candidates will undergo a technical screening (including coding) prior to client submission.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures across public cloud environments.
- Collaborate with application teams to resolve cloud infrastructure issues and improve operational reliability.
- Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Partner with leadership and application owners to implement cloud optimization strategies.
- Build and integrate CI/CD pipelines to support continuous deployment and infrastructure updates.
- Troubleshoot AWS-based services including EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and more.
- Lead efforts around cloud automation, observability, and performance improvement.
- Support hybrid and multi-region cloud environments with best practices in deployment and security.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5–15 years of relevant experience
- Deep expertise with AWS cloud services: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFront, etc.
- Strong proficiency with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
- Experience with front-end technologies such as Vue.js, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 is a plus.
- Proven success working with directors, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Solid understanding of cloud security, networking, content delivery, and compute strategies.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous, and matrixed environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
- AWS Certified Developer – Associate
