About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead SQL Developer to drive the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-grade database solutions. This role requires a hands-on technical expert who can architect complex data systems, ensure peak database performance, and mentor development teams in best practices.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience in SQL development, data architecture, and database performance tuning, along with strong leadership and collaboration skills to align data strategies with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Design

Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance database architectures (relational and NoSQL).

Define schemas, tables, views, and indexing strategies to ensure data integrity and consistency.

Establish and gain approval for data architecture decisions, design standards, and lifecycle practices.
Performance Optimization

Serve as the subject-matter expert for query tuning, stored procedure optimization, and database configuration.

Use advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler) to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in high-volume environments.
ETL & Data Pipelines

Architect, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes for efficient data migration, transformation, and integration.

Manage data movement across multiple sources and target systems to support analytics and business intelligence initiatives.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship

Provide technical leadership and guidance to SQL developers and data engineers.

Conduct code reviews, enforce development standards, and mentor team members on best practices in data modeling and SQL development.
Collaboration & Strategy

Partner with senior management, application developers, and data teams to align database strategies with organizational objectives.

Contribute to the long-term technology roadmap and data governance frameworks.
Data Governance & Security

Define and implement database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.
Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution

Proactively monitor and troubleshoot database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and business disruption.

Deliver root cause analyses and implement long-term, preventative solutions.
Documentation & Standards

Maintain comprehensive documentation for database designs, data flows, and operational procedures.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Relevant certifications in database systems, platforms, or services preferred.
Experience

Minimum 10 years of professional experience in SQL development, database design, and data engineering.
