Job Title: Sr. VMWare Systems Engineer
Duration: 9 months
Location: Richardson, TX 100% on-site, but will eventually move to (Tues/Wed/Thurs) Hybrid
Travel Requirements: N/A
Hours: Standard 8 am 5 pm
Note: Direct feedback from the manager after reviewing 1st batch of candidates: remove the candidates that were very siloed and only did patch management, low-level server builds, and very little troubleshooting. We need someone that can take on work and lead that task to completion.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Overall maintenance, administration, monitoring, problem management for Vmware Vcenter, Vsphere infrastructure and Windows server components.
- Vsphere installation, upgrades, backup/restore, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, scripting, and producing documentation
- Windows server 2008 through 2019 installation, upgrades, backup/restore, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, scripting, and producing documentation
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with Vmware and Windows server products.
- Setting up and maintaining standby and secondary environments for high availability
- Backup, storage and networking troubleshooting on Vmware and Windows server platforms.
- Work closely with Support and Development Teams to ensure customer satisfaction
- Recommending and implementing approved process and tool improvements
Required Experience, Skills, & Technologies
- 10 years+ of experience administering large Vmware environments
- Significant experience with Vcenter 6.7 and upgrading of environments
- Moving to v7 withi5 the next 12 months
- DR exercises (utilizing SRM)
- Experience in maintaining and optimizing Windows server 2008 through 2019.
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with Windows server products.
- Experience optimizing server building operations, or failover scenarios (automation)
- Expert knowledge of Cisco UCS (remote access, deployments) blades and chassis
- Experience with performance tuning, capacity planning, and optimization of VM environments
- Extensive knowledge of Active Directory in relation to VMware roles and access
- Experience with Commvault backup solutions (maintaining and optimizing)
- Experience with SDDC architectures with multiple vendors
- Experience with basic network configurations in a VMware environment
- Network troubleshooting for guest access
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple and concurrent tasks.
Top Must Have Skills:
- Strong experience with Microsoft Server products
- Strong experience with VMware products
- Demonstrated experience configuring and maintaining VMware environments
Nice to Have Skills:
- Powershell
- VMware certifications, Microsoft certifications
- Experience automating, scripting, and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy

- I am looking for a person that has risen above the patch management candidates that are out there, we need real engineers that have been placed in charge of things.
