Description:

The Dept of Human Services (DHS) is looking for a resource to provides assessments of technical and operational practices based on leading industry standards specific to the MicroStrategy and similar BI tools/environments to support DCAS. This is a long term position working in the DHS, Economic Security Administration (ESA), Division of Innovation & Change Management (DICM) supporting the DCAS program team in business intelligence and analytics in Washington DC at DHS headquarters.
Qualifications

  • 16+ years planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities
  • 16+ years leading projects, ensuring they are in compliance with established standards/procedures
  • Strong Experience with MicroStrategy, familiarity with Tableau is helpful.
  • Strong experience in writing SQL and good working knowledge on Oracle and SQL Server databases. Ability to perform data analysis, troubleshoot data issues in comparison to report output.
  • Experience on creating highly optimized Intelligent Cubes and Incremental Refresh experience
  • Experience on various features on RSDs like selectors and write-back functionalities
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, management information systems, computer science, or an equivalent combination of skills, training, and experience
  • Extremely good at comprehending, analyzing data and its relationships
  • 2-3 years of Data Visualization experience using MicroStrategy Dossier
  • Good knowledge of Data Warehousing principles, ETL processes and dimensional modeling concepts
  • Excellent technical, logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to provide insight on development and application support
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Basic knowledge and interest in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, NodeJS and React
  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • The position is responsible for the design, development, and support of DHS' DCAS Government MicroStrategy Business Intelligence platform
  • The individual will be required to participate in all SDLC phases and responsible for data modeling and MicroStrategy project metadata development
  • The individual will frequently interact and assist with the ad-hoc reporting and access requests from agency users
  • The individual should possess skills around relationships of data, hierarchies, and hybrid data models
  • The position requires production support, platform maintenance support and system enhancements support.
  • The Individual is expected to have a thorough understanding of the business logic and data contained within every BI project while working on it
  • Build MicroStrategy dashboards, Report Services Documents and Reports both for Web and Library that satisfy and meet organization requirements/needs
  • Collaborate with other teams to define dashboards and reporting solutions to meet diverse, complex agency needs
  • Experience working with Complex reports, Report Services Documents (Write-Back), Dossier (dashboards), Metrics, Filters, built-in and user defined functions like If, case, running sum, etc.
  • High level of competence in creating complex Datamart reports and Transactional Datasets
  • Ability to write custom SQL like self-join, nested queries to troubleshoot complex data issues
  • Training Users on the BI functionality and helping them in creating basic reporting objects within MicroStrategy
  • Work with agency users and be able to comprehend their requests into possible solutions using the current BI platform
  • Make small code changes on MicroStrategy Plugins or Connectors
  • Coordinates IT project management, engineering, maintenance, QA, and risk management.
  • Plans, coordinates, and monitors project activities.
  • Develops technical applications to support users.
  • Develops, implements, maintains and enforces documented standards and procedures for the design, development, installation, modification, and documentation of assigned systems.
  • Provides training for system products and procedures.
  • Performs application upgrades.
  • Performs, monitoring, maintenance, or reporting on real- time databases, real-time network and serial data communications, and real-time graphics and logic applications.
  • Troubleshoots problems.
  • Ensures project life-cycle is in compliance with District standards and procedures.
