Solution Architect Duration: 6-12 months Location: Kansas City, MO (Can be remote until February 2021, then need to be in Kansas City) Local Preferred GC and USC Only Summary: The Solution Architect is responsible for defining and executing the technology architecture strategy, design, development and deployment for Wealth Management solutions portfolio. This role will work directly with business and technology leaders to ensure that complete end-to-end solutions are created that fulfill the business requirements for wealth manager and support the corresponding business capabilities and value streams. In addition, this role will define how solutions will be implemented, ensuring they are cost-effective, re-usable, scalable, fault-tolerant and deliver the desired business outcomes. This role will also drive solution architecture practices aligned to agile delivery, such as intentional architecture and emergent design, that allow the architecture of systems to evolve continuously over time while simultaneously supporting the needs of current users to avoid delays and overheads associated with large scale upfront designs. Responsibilities: Provide solution architecture consultation to the product and project delivery teams, identifying ways to apply new or existing technologies to support business initiatives, facilitating the reuse of ideas, components, services, and proven patterns across value streams Develop comprehensive solution architecture and designs to meet business requirements and enabling innovation, high quality, cost efficiency and integration with existing applications, systems or platforms Identify, create and maintain appropriate solution architecture artifacts throughout a product or project lifecycle Collaborate with Enterprise and Domain Architects, ensure solution and technology architecture standards, governance and principles are implemented effectively across all solutions Work collaboratively with the product managers, product owners, agile teams, project managers, business analysts and developers to ensure that the outcomes delivered by projects are consistent with the original technical solution design Evaluate existing and emerging technologies and platforms and advise how they might be leveraged to increase cost effectiveness, systems flexibility and time to market Ability to question and challenge conventional approaches. Design new methods where established methods and procedures are inapplicable or unavailable Provide technical guidance for application and system design, software development, and related activities. Perform cost/benefit analysis on proposed solutions and technologies to determine associated risks and opportunities. Communicate architectural principles for development and perform code reviews in order to ensure execution according to established principles. Mentor developers and other technical team members on existing and new systems. Requirements: Architecture and technology expert with a minimum of 10 years of experience in complex IT architecture environments. Financial Services industry experience preferred. 5+ years in an Enterprise Solutions Architect role or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field Track record in driving large scale strategic initiatives such as Digital Transformation, Technology Modernization, Application Rationalization required Proven experience in at least 2 technical domains such as application, integration, information, cloud, infrastructure or security Knowledge of modern web architecture / technologies, such as containers, microservices, API management, Integration, big data analytics, UX frameworks, big data analytics Stays current on industry and technology trends, proactively brings innovative ideas to the discussions Become a trusted advisor to business on technology topics, ask relevant questions and drive towards decisions. Build strong relationship with all members of the technology teams Outstanding verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to articulate and communicate ideas at all levels including business stakeholders, management, peers, vendors and customers Passion for Wealth Management and a self-starting personality to make things happen. Able to work autonomously and exhibit sound technical judgement` Exceptional listening skills, ability to learn quickly, possess a client-focused mindset, and demonstrate accountability for company and individual success. Excellent decision-making, risk-taking, and critical thinking skills for problem identification and solution recommendation. Comfortable engaging on multiple projects at a time while navigating gray areas of responsibility and collaborating with others to find optimal solutions. Previous hands on / Software Engineering experience at least in one area of technology Preferred: Experience with Financial Services industry data such as Securities, Associated Persons, Locations, Transaction Flow and Standard industry data providers. Experience with migrating or building workloads hosted in public clouds such as Azure and AWS Experience with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc. Experience with Agile development methodologies and DevOps delivery approaches. Cloud Azure is a plus. Financial Experience is a HUGE plus: Anti-money laundering, financial planning, integration, data movement between systems, workflow and client onboarding, e-signature. Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field with at least 3 years of related work experience.
