  • 5-8 years’ experience leading design research efforts across the complete product development lifecycle of at least 1 successfully launched product or service. 
  • BA or BS in social science or related area

Education:

Preferred Master of Science degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interactive Media, Applied Psychology, Information Science, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors Engineering or equivalent experience.

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

At a Senior level, leads the overall user experience design for medium to large projects, and independently executes tasks in the areas of ethnography, user needs analysis, interaction design recommendations, and usability testing. Project responsibilities include accountability for the outcome of research; applying principles of good User Experience research to all work; helping translate User Experience research findings into design decisions; understanding business objectives and how to balance them with user needs; and develop and analyze business requirements to define and improve applications and business processes. Advanced ability to interpret design principles and standards to evaluate effective designs. Responsible for demonstrating ability to independently conduct research in several research areas - Usability (formative and summative), ethnographic/field studies, surveys, Card Sorts, Personas, time-in- motion studies, heuristic evaluations and Big Data analyses. Should have advanced skills in both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. Works with some supervision on large to complex projects. 

 Responsibilities include: 

· Lead a human-centered design process to create high quality user experiences 

· Develops user experience research plans, collects data, moderates design testing sessions, facilitates workshops with internal and external stakeholders, and delivers research reports based on an understanding of how to interpret design principles and standards to evaluate effective designs. 

· Advocate for the needs of our users at all levels of the organization 

· Communicate research results in an effective and compelling manner that influences decisions. 

1) Collaboration and creative brainstorming, ideation, rapid-prototyping, and other problem-solving with user experience and graphic designers, engineers, and other stakeholders on multiple projects. This includes strong collaboration and alignment with teams responsible for online and mobile experiences to ensure customers' needs are met across all media.  

2) Documentation and delivery and/or contributing to create briefs, user scenarios and storyboards, text strings, flow charts, annotated wireframes, and other documentation that defines the user experience and providing direction to technical writers creating specification documents.  

3) Works closely with our internal user researchers to support usability and focus group test plans as well as prototype support (paper or interactive prototypes, as appropriate).  

4) Will serve as user advocate supporting features and products throughout the project lifecycle ensuring the best experience implemented.  

5) Includes software development support, reviews, and presentations, ensuring high quality and deadlines are met.
