Job Title: Senior Semantic Model Developer (Power BI / Fabric / Tabular)

Location- 100% Remote

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Semantic Model Developer to design and deliver robust, scalable semantic models that power enterprise analytics. The role focuses on building high-performance data models using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and Tabular technologies, enabling accurate and efficient business insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain semantic data models using Power BI and Tabular models
  • Build and optimize datasets within Microsoft Fabric and Power BI Service
  • Develop complex calculations using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
  • Implement data modeling techniques (star schema, snowflake schema, normalization/denormalization)
  • Optimize model performance, storage, and query efficiency
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into models
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and governance across reports and dashboards
  • Implement row-level security (RLS) and data access controls
  • Manage model deployment, versioning, and lifecycle
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance and data issues

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong experience with Power BI data modeling and Tabular models (SSAS Tabular or Fabric)
  • Advanced knowledge of DAX and data modeling best practices
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Semantic Models)
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure Synapse, Data Factory, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Power BI administration and governance
  • Familiarity with tools like Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, ALM Toolkit
  • Understanding of CI/CD for BI solutions
  • Microsoft certifications (PL-300, DP-600, or similar)

Experience:

  • 6–10 years of experience in BI/Analytics with at least 3–5 years in semantic modeling
