Job Description:
The Texas Railroad Commission ITS division requires the services of one senior mainframe technical resource with RRC Oil and Gas systems experience hereafter referred to as Worker, who meets the general qualification of a Programmer 4 in legacy technology.
The Worker will apply their expert knowledge of RRC agency mainframe related application systems to support the needs of an internal ITS development project team.
Meeting with the business and information technology team to understand the existing applications, and the required enhancements
Design, develop, and enhance systems and build stability into the application infrastructure
Participate in requirements gathering sessions
Create technical design documents and specifications
Develop programs in COBOL
Perform unit and system testing
Support the users in acceptance testing
Work with the IT team to move the system into production
Create necessary system documentation
CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Required/Preferred Experience
20 Required Detailed knowledge of the Oil and Gas applications running on the Railroad Commission Mainframe
7 Required Skill in systems documentation
7 Required Experience and understanding of IMS and VSAM
7 Required Skill in Cobol, CICS, JCL, REXX, Mark4, ISPF, File-Aid, and Job Scheduler
7 Required Excellent communication skills''
1 Required Experience developing complex application systems using software development life cycle
Preferred:
1 Preferred Experience developing application using COBOL 390
Experience developing applications using the relational IMS database
Experience developing SQL scripts and queries
Mainframe knowledge in JCL, CICS, VSAM, and TSO
Extensive experience with RRC Oil
