This position manages teams that are responsible for software engineering, business analysis, software development, quality assurance, agile, and continuous improvement within Cox Auto RTS Engineering Portfolio, specifically Registration and Titling. These groups build and maintain software and systems necessary to support the business users, clients and RTS Products. The incumbent will have significant experience building teams, robust reporting and cloud-based solutions in Agile development environments. The ability to identify and address risks before they become issues is a key to success for this role. This role requires an individual with vision and the desire to work with key partners across business solution sets in a highly consultative manner. This role operates with significant influence on both internal and external key stakeholders to ensure key deliverables are achieved. We are restructuring the RTS engineering to better align with product and to build a stronger succession plan for the DS / portfolio leaders.

This role is also responsible for managing resources in a highly matrixed organization. The incumbent will bring a blend of communication skills, internal consulting skills, creative problem solving, business planning, risk mitigation and financial analysis skills with a strong bias to action. Lastly, this position will oversee a high performing, smoothly functioning team, so candidates are expected to demonstrate leadership through influence, teamwork and servant leadership.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sees the bigger picture and thinks outside the box to come up with innovative ideas and establish engineering visions and competitive goals.
  • Articulates the vision and strategic direction of the organization to the team; helps others translate strategic goals into tactical objectives.
  • Build and maintain effective and meaningful relationship with key stakeholders across business portfolios to ensure alignment with business goals
  • Shows a practical business sense to improve group performance; exhibits a solid understanding of common business practices.
  • Negotiates and manages realistic expectations with internal customers; balances time demands with quality goals.
  • Effectively leverages the CAFé framework to continuously improve technology delivery, quality of services and engineering practices
  • Proactively identify and manage delivery dependencies by working effectively with partners across portfolio and business solution sets
  • Accountable for department budget as well as spending and credits management for cloud-based assets
  • Building high performing culture through setting and communicating clear and challenging goals and empowering team members and leaders with proper resources and tools for performance management
  • Establishment and evolution of Communities of Practice to improve the ‘state of the art of all disciplines within the group
  • Facilitates and maintains relationships between CAI and its vendor partners, to include contract negotiations, establishing vendor standards, and implementing engineering best practices.
  • Coach and mentor team members and managers in engineering and management practices
  • Clearly understands the skills and experiences needed to fill gaps in his/her area of influence.
  • Develops clear succession plans; identifies top talent and growth opportunities.

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Championing change, solving problems, thinking strategically, managing relationships/teams, and coaching/developing others is also required.
  • Candidates must also have business savvy, customer focus, planning/organizing skills, and talent management ability.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based products, data engineering and business analytics is essential.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Information Systems Required
  • 12 years of experience with at least 7years of experience in a management or leadership role required
