This person is responsible for nurturing an architecture strategy that improves the quality, simplicity, and time-to-market of software products while working collaboratively to create the architectural vision for the Delivery Stream and supporting team members responsible for executing it.The Sr. Director of Architecture is a servant leader who can effectively foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and high-performance. This person must knock down technical, cultural, or organizational impediments, mentor senior technical staff, and collaborate with other architecture and engineering leaders to develop a healthy organization. As a member of the Delivery Stream leadership team, the Sr. Director of Architecture works with counterparts in Engineering and Product Management to define, plan, and execute the product engineering work for their Delivery Stream, with a focus on guiding the architecture of the software and solutions towards the architectural vision. The Sr. Director of Architecture collaborates with stakeholders across the company to ensure that the solutions delivered meet both business and technical objectives and are aligned with the long-term technology roadmap. Reporting to the AVP of Architecture for the Portfolio, the Sr. Director of Architecture is a part of the broader CAI-wide architecture practice, and participates in developing prescriptive patterns, standards, and target-state architectures for the enterprise. The Sr. Director of Architecture and the Architects within their organization play a strategic leadership role in guiding engineering teams toward appropriate architecture and engineering capabilities, including but not limited to: Building Cloud Native applications leveraging AWS services and migrating existing capabilities to AWSSolutioning and delivering on a set of shared capabilities to power current and next-generation productsDriving toward a Services First approach in support of these shared capabilitiesLeveraging continuous delivery tools, patterns, and practicesUsing the set of shared Architecture artifacts, including Well-Architected Reviews, Cookbooks, and Architecture Decision Records, to drive toward desired future-state architecturesPRIMARY DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES* Serve as the Architecture leader for the Delivery Stream, in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Business leadership * Inform Delivery Stream members of architectural and technical risks in the systems, advocate for non-functional requirements, and set the architectural direction, long-term vision, and guiding principles* Frame technical or architectural alternatives in business terms, clearly articulating both business and technical implications of various options* Understand the overall Cox Automotive Architecture standards and opinions* Champion sound architectural solutions and effectively advocate for them at an executive level * Manage technical debt and advocate with Product and Engineering for its retirement * Drive creation, adoption and reuse of enterprise technology assets * Works through a team of Release Train Architects, technical architects, and other Directors and Managers in her/his organization to provide architectural stewardship for the software products of the Delivery Stream.* Through a team of Release Train architects, provide technical leadership and mentoring to the entire Delivery Stream product engineering staff (typically between 100 and 200 team members). * Contributing to the larger Cox Automotive Architecture Teams shared artifacts and knowledge base Qualifications: * BA/BS Degree or equivalent experience* 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 7 years experience in a leadership role* 10+ years experience in full development life cycle and significant experience in delivering applications and architecture services in a production environment * 5+ years experience in the implementation of structured design and architecture processes in a corporate environment. * Deep understanding of the architecture discipline, processes, concepts and best practices * Experience with cloud-native architectures or compatible architecture patterns * Demonstrated proficiency in at least three of the following areas: business architecture, application architecture, data architecture, technical/infrastructure architecture, security disciplines, or operational disciplines. * Exemplary consulting skills and a track record of applying these skills as a practicing architect. Outstanding verbal, written, presentation, facilitation, and interaction skills, including ability to effectively communicate architectural issues and concepts to multiple organization levels. * Exemplary relationship skills and with a track record of being a trusted advisor. * Great time management and a passion for delivering on commitments. * Understanding and past experience in development and project management processes and methodologies including common roles, responsibilities, and key deliverables. * Proven leadership, influence, and mentoring skills. * Requires physical ability and mental acuity to execute the duties of the position successfully within required timeframes in order to meet business requirements.Who We Are*About Cox Automotive*Theres nothing ordinary about Cox Automotive.
