1. Background
SAWS currently utilizes Salesforce as our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform. While we
have successfully implemented several key features and functionalities, we believe there is significant
room for improvement in terms of system architecture, scalability, and customization. We aim to
streamline our Salesforce instance, align it with industry best practices, and leverage its full potential to
drive enhance customer satisfaction, and improve overall operational efficiency.
2. Scope
We are seeking a Salesforce Architect consultant who can assist us in achieving the following objectives:
1. System Assessment and Evaluation:
a. Conduct a thorough assessment of our existing Salesforce implementation, including
architecture, configuration, customizations, and integrations.
b. Identify gaps, pain points, and areas for improvement.
c. Evaluate scalability, performance, and security aspects of the current system.
2. Solution Design and Roadmap:
a. Collaborate with our internal stakeholders, including IT teams, business units, and
executive management, to understand their requirements and goals.
b. Develop a comprehensive solution design and roadmap to address the identified gaps
and enhance the Salesforce ecosystem.
c. Provide recommendations for system enhancements, platform optimization, and
integration strategies.
3. Customization and Configuration:
a. Implement necessary changes, customizations, and configurations to align Salesforce
with the desired solution design.
b. Streamline data models, workflows, and processes to improve efficiency and user
experience.
c. Ensure compliance with Salesforce best practices and utility industry standards.
4. Integration and Data Management:
a. Analyze existing integrations with other systems and identify opportunities for
optimization and automation.
b. Propose strategies to enhance data management, data quality, and data governance
within Salesforce.
c. Develop and implement integration solutions to enable seamless data flow between
Salesforce and other critical enterprise systems.
5. Performance Optimization and Security:
a. Conduct performance analysis and tuning exercises to improve system responsiveness,
scalability, and reliability.
b. Enhance security measures, including access controls, data encryption, and user
authentication.
c. Provide recommendations for disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
3. Experience
1. Salesforce Expertise:
a. Demonstrated expertise in Salesforce architecture, configuration, customization, and
integration.
b. In-depth knowledge of Salesforce CRM modules, including Sales Cloud, Service Cloud,
Marketing Cloud, and Community Cloud.
c. Familiarity with Salesforce platform capabilities, such as Lightning Experience, Apex,
Visualforce, SOQL, and declarative development tools.
2. Solution Design and Architecture:
a. Ability to design scalable, robust, and efficient Salesforce solutions that align with
business requirements and best practices.
b. Experience in defining data models, workflows, and processes to optimize system
performance and user experience.
c. Proficiency in designing and implementing complex customizations, including custom
objects, fields, validation rules, and triggers.
3. Integration and Data Management:
a. Extensive knowledge of Salesforce integration options, including REST/SOAP APIs,
middleware tools, and platform events.
b. Experience in integrating Salesforce with other enterprise systems, such as ERP,
marketing automation, and customer support systems.
c. Understanding of data migration strategies, data transformation, and data
synchronization techniques.
4. Performance Optimization:
a. Ability to analyze and optimize Salesforce performance, including query optimization,
indexing, and governor limits management.
b. Experience in designing and implementing scalable solutions to handle high data
volumes and complex workflows.
c. Familiarity with performance monitoring and diagnostic tools for identifying and
resolving performance bottlenecks.
5. Security and Compliance:
a. Strong understanding of Salesforce security model, including roles, profiles, permission
sets, and data access controls.
b. Knowledge of Salesforce Shield features for data encryption, event monitoring, and data
loss prevention.
c. Awareness of industry-specific compliance requirements, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-
DSS, and ability to ensure Salesforce compliance.
6. Change Management and Best Practices:
a. Experience in guiding organizations through Salesforce system changes and upgrades.
b. Ability to define and implement change management processes, including sandbox
management, release management, and version control.
c. Knowledge of Salesforce development best practices, including code review, unit
testing, and deployment methodologies (e.g., Agile, DevSecOps).
7. Documentation and Training:
a. Proficient in creating comprehensive technical documentation, including solution design
documents, configuration guides, and integration specifications.
b. Ability to conduct knowledge transfer sessions and provide training to the organization's
technical and end-user teams.
4. Deliverables
The following deliverables are expected throughout the engagement:
1. System assessment report detailing current state analysis, identified gaps, and improvement
recommendations.
2. Comprehensive solution design and roadmap document outlining the proposed enhancements,
integrations, and configuration changes.
3. Implementation plan with timelines, milestones, and resource requirements.
4. Customization and configuration documentation.
5. Integration solutions and documentation.
6. Performance optimization enhancement recommendations.
7. Deliver a secure configuration baseline for SAWS Salesforce org to reduce the risk of a security
breach.
