Company is a world leader in specialty coatings for the food, food packaging, cosmetics & personal care, pharmaceutical and agricultural industries.

We currently have an excellent opportunity in our fast-growing company for a Senior Research Scientist based at our R&D facility in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

As a Senior Research Scientist, you will play a key role in the new product development, process development, and technical service functions for our leading coatings product line for sustainable food packaging. You will drive the development of new company products and contribute in a meaningful way to grow sales and profitability. You will travel to customers with our sales team and attend key trade shows.

Responsibilities & Duties: Maintain a complete understanding of company food contact packaging coating line and their technical attributes. Manage research and development programs, using “hands-on” technical expertise to create new coating products, and improve production processes. Coordinate ingredient sourcing, testing of new ingredients, functional evaluations and approval process with Purchasing and Quality Departments. Assist in creating sales formulas and client literature. Stay abreast of food packaging coating trends and developments in new technologies. Build a reputation for customer-focused creativity by delivering new ideas and coating solutions.

Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field (i.e., Polymer coatings, Chemistry, Engineering) with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the food packaging or coating industry. A Master’s Degree in chemistry or polymer science is preferred. Experience in paper coating/printing industry is a big plus. Candidates should possess in-depth knowledge on coating formulation/testing/application. Demonstrated ability to drive R&D projects. Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation), problem solving, critical thinking, organization, planning and management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Requirements
