Launch is looking for a 3D Scanning Engineer to provide support for a high volume and fast paced organization.
Responsibilities

·         Use of Artec Studio to scan study participants with the Eva and Spider 3D scanners

·         Collect anthropometric measurements from research participants using calipers and other measurement tools

·         Collect image and video data using smartphone cameras, digital cameras, and custom capture rigs

·         Capture high-accuracy 3D scans of research participants' torso, head, ear and auditory canal

·         High-poly 3D modeling of human subjects, room interiors and other objects for VR and acoustics testing

·         Rendering and lighting of 3D spaces and objects

·         Low-poly 3D modeling for real-time engine use

·         Use Autodesk Maya for mesh creation, manipulation of organic and hard-surface modeling, generation of dynamic FX simulations, and mechanical, bipedal, and character animation rigging

·         Create and run scripts in Autodesk Maya, Python and other tools to automate production pipeline

·         Organic sculpting on high-poly 3D meshes using Zbrush

·         Optimize UV mapping of hard surface and organic 3D models

·         Use Wrap 3 for mesh manipulation, point annotation, and low-poly wrapping

·         Geometry validation in Meshlab, Meshmixer, and other tools

·         Use A e Photoshop to perform image editing

·         Use proprietary tools to process 3D meshes and 2D images

·         VR level creation and optimization in the game engines Unity3D and the Unreal Engine for deployment to VR headsets or PC, along with necessary scripting in C# and Blueprint to integrate interactivity

·         Physically based procedural material creation via Substance Designer and application using Substance Painter

·         Create Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to track data collection projects and capture data

·         Interact with study participants in a safe and professional manner; instruct participants and guide them through study procedures

·         Follow predefined process to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of participants and their data

·         Prepare clear, concise technical write-ups or presentations on study procedures and execution

·         Organic sculpting on high-poly 3D meshes using Zbrush

·         Use A e Photoshop to perform image editing to collected research data

·         Create and manage Microsoft Excel spreadsheets for data collection

·         High-poly 3D modeling of room interiors and other objects for VR and acoustics testing

·         Low poly modeling for real-time engine use

·         Use Autodesk Maya for mesh creation and/or manipulation of organic and hard-surface modeling; run scripts in Maya script editor

·         Rendering and lighting of 3D spaces and/or objects

·         Geometry validation in Meshlab, Meshmixer, and using CLI tools

·         Use Wrap 3 for mesh manipulation, point annotation, and low-poly wrapping

·         Use Artec Studio to scan study participants with the Eva and Spider scanners, as well as compile and revise the 3D scan data

·         Interact with study participants in a safe and professional manner: This includes any or all the following: screening participants, obtaining participant consent, assuring the privacy and confidentiality of participants and their data, instructing study participants and guiding them through study procedures, running the study procedures, collecting the data per study design, formatting and annotating the data, and creating basic reports regarding the data. The 3DE’s are expected to follow procedures related to maintaining confidential information and handling of confidential data

·         Gather research data using images and video from cellphones

·         Gather anthropometric measurements of research participants

·         Gather scans of research participants auditory canal and pinna using 3D scanner

·         Use proprietary tools to gather additional data from 3D meshes or 2D images

·         Perform routine inventory checklist and maintenance on research study equipment

·         May do technical write-ups or presentations to researchers involving any of the research study procedures handled in 3D

·         Research new hardware and software solutions aimed at improving existing workflows

·         Collaborate with researchers to plan new research study workflows or modify existing workflows

·         Identifies inefficiencies and implements automation to help expedite production pipeline (for example, creating scripts in Autodesk Maya and other tools)

·         Assists with onboarding new 3DSE team members, including shadowing and providing instruction related to standard 3DSE tasks, software and tools

Required
Experience/Qualifications

·         Very strong organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage and instruct research participants while dealing with multiple aspects of a complex research experiment

·         Experience with using 3D laser scanners and 3D modeling software.
