Apptio Business System Analyst 6 month contract. ( REMOTE )

Must have Apptio.



The Apptio Business System Analyst, under limited supervision, provides advanced system support for the applications used by supported departments. This includes, but is not limited to, gathering business requirements, design and maintenance of business applications, application configuration, systems testing and end-user production support. The Apptio Business System Analyst will provide both technical and functional support to the business and should have a solid understanding of the business processes and how they relate to the supported business applications. Technical skills are required to understand the table structures, provide adequate issue resolution and develop complicated reports. This employee has heavy contact with other company departments as well as outside vendors.





  • Anticipate potential project roadblocks and identify alternatives in an independent and efficient manner
  • Plan, organize and direct the implementation and/or development of supported applications in accordance with strategic business plans and industry standards on multiple large projects
  • Analyze business and user needs, document requirements and implement or revise new or existing systems as necessary
  • Assist with the creation, documentation and execution of test scripts for supported systems and research and implement solutions to issues identified during testing
  • Responsible for analyzing and resolving functional and technical problems of Apptio
  • Monitor scheduled application interfaces and provide issue resolution
  • Provide production and ad-hoc reporting and interface solutions to complex query needs of the business using a variety of reporting tools
  • Defines business needs for new and/or enhanced products, services or optimized business processes
  • Coordinate with program development teams on software interfaces used by supported business applications
  • Provide day to day functional and technical support of TBM Solution (Apptio)
  • Perform monthly close of TBM Solution to ensure that the appropriate fields and data was integrated into the application
  • Open and monitor vendor incident tickets
  • Manage of Data loads
  • Develop an understanding of TCO data and its sources and ensure data quality and accuracy for consumption
  • Build through complex models to determine data flows and/or troubleshoot issues
  • Engages and collaborates with technology and finance teams on Apptio initiatives such as cost transparency of technology assets, metrics and data governance
  • Independently leads process & data improvement initiatives and discussions with technology and business associates
  • Continues to be aware of TBM Solution's roadmap and new capabilities and identifies training or conferences to further enhance skill-set
  • Gather and translate Apptio
  • Identify impacts across teams and coordinates to manage dependencies and potentially competing priorities and/or customer functional and technical requirements and provide a recommended solution
  • Communicate with management and business partners on business systems and project status
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures




  • Knowledge of business processes for supported business groups
  • Experience working in complex and cross functional projects, with emphasis on systems, technologies, business process redesign and knowledge of technical environments
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic financial understanding including budgeting, variance analysis and financial statements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop multiple solutions to moderately complex problems and recommend the best solution to the business and project team
  • Identifies impacts across teams and coordinates to manage dependencies and potentially competing priorities


  • Strong people skills including the ability to interact with employees at all levels
  • Ability to meet expected delivery dates and the tasks necessary to achieve objectives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience preferred



  • 1+ experience with Apptio required

           5-7 years ?of project management
