Release Train Engineer

Roles & Responsibilities Event and Ceremony Facilitation: • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the ART using various tools, such as the Program Board, Kanban Boards, and other information radiators. (An RTE's activities support ART value delivery) • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning including estimation and creation of sprint (iteration) schedule; Facilitate PI Planning readiness via fostering the preparation of Backlogs and via Pre- and Post-PI Planning meetings • Facilitate key ceremonies including Scrum of Scrums, Inspect and Adapt, PO Sync, ART Sync and other program level meetings. Includes leading key business stakeholders. • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PI) • Coordinate activities and enable collaboration across all impacted teams / areas • Aggregate Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives and publish them for visibility and transparency
• Broadly communicate Train commitments post-PI. • Manage and optimize the flow of value through the team by managing WIP Train Level Reporting, Metrics, and overall Transparency: • Combine metrics from Teams to a Program level reporting view • Track and report on progress of epic, feature, costs, benefits etc. using appropriate tools (JIRA, Clarity, etc.) Includes tracking and managing the epic and train budget; understand and operate within the ART Budget. • Develop and maintain scorecards and productivity metrics consistent with governance standards, including sprint and product burndown and velocity charts • Identify internal and external dependencies that impact work; manage program level risks and dependencies across teams; provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks; escalate and remove impediments • Report planning results and epic status to senior management, business owners, epic owners, product owners, and other stakeholders Alignment with Portfolio and other Trains/ Teams: • Work with Product Management, Product Owners, and other value stream stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment across trains • Cross application/ department/ function release planning, coordination, and execution • Drive process/ approach consistency and alignment Coaching: • Encourage Team Level and program level Continuous Integration and Communities of Practice around SAFe, Agile, Lean, and Quality Practices • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets • Promote a risk-aware culture, ensure efficient and effective risk and compliance management practices by adhering to required standards and processes • Collaborate with the Scrum Master(s) to deliver value • Ensures Agile governance standards, best practices and required reviews are met. Experience • 3 years of RTE and/or SCRUM Master related experience using SAFe Agile delivery framework • 5 years of Business Program or portfolio management experience • Experience managing virtual and global distributed teams • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree • SAFe RTE certification • Experience with and understanding of concepts of Organizational Change Management
