Job Description:
The Client is looking for a Regulatory Risk & Controls Manager who works within boundaries of IRM policies, procedures, and specific objectives/agreements. Has some autonomy in adjusting policies and plans independently. Works with complex, ambiguous, and incomplete information. May manage a smaller team or coach others. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy in resolving complex problems and assignments. Investigates defines and resolves complex problems. May collaborate across the team(s) and has some exposure to / interaction with business leadership. Works independently under broad managerial supervision. 
This role is based in Houston, Texas.
 
FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  To design, document, and embed controls necessary to support the Commercial Team's business objectives and manage the associated risks. Accountabilities.
•  As a member of the newly formed LOD1 (Line of Defense) team within the SEAm BIAM organization, this role is accountable for the implementation of effective front office controls.
•  This can involve working with the Business Controls Manager to design the control (and metrics around the control) as well as assuring and strengthening existing controls.
•  Based on controls in place, this role is responsible for analyzing trends in control failures or variances and making recommendations to strengthen control adherence.
•  Work closely with process and controls project managers in BIAM, as well as the global risk task force project managers to ensure standardization where possible of front office controls and necessary compliance regulations.
•  Carry out periodic assurance of control monitoring and reporting by reporting analysts in the LOD1 team.
•  Champion automation and adoption of new digital technologies to strengthen business processes and lead to enhanced controls.
•  Monitor reported learning events and implement recommendations or key takeaways applicable to the controls managed by the role.
•  Maintain a network of operational risk specialists internally and externally to Organization Energy Americas in order to capture shifts in market and industry standards and maintain a commitment to continuous improvement.
 
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
•  Experience working in a relevant regulatory environment would be an advantage and awareness of trade compliance and regulatory risks.
•  Understanding of Dodd-Frank Regulations, Energy Derivative Markets and Trade Deal Life Cycle, OFAC, CFTC, NFA regulations.
•  Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
•  Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communications skills. Proven experience in analyzing complex issues and making business-impacting decisions in a timely fashion, managing a demanding workload effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
•  Must be proficient with MS Excel. Proficiency in Spotfire, MS PowerPoint, Access, Business Objects, or comparable applications, Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate is preferred.
•  Advanced knowledge of Risk Management systems (i.e. Open Link / Endur).
•  Proficiency in Information Management, Data Analysis, and Business Processes and Controls is required.
•  10+ years of experience working in a commercial environment (trading or banking) with an understanding of controls, risk, and compliance.
•  Due to the potential for regulatory censure, communications between the compliance analyst, the business, and, potentially, the regulators will need to be handled effectively and clearly.
•  Ability to manage diverse stakeholders across commercial, operations, finance, etc. Ability to multi-task with high-level attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to perform under rigid deadlines in a dynamic environment.
