Description:

The resource shall assist the Citywide Information Technology Security (CWITS) team within OCTO to use Python and PowerShell to pull and process real time data from security solutions and platforms
This contract position will provide development services to assist the OCTO Citywide Information Technology Security (CWITS) program with collecting, analyzing, scripting and automation for data from security solutions and platforms to provide useful insights and analytics of this data. Utilizing programming languages such as Python and PowerShell, the contractor shall use SDKs and APIs to facilitate data pipelines for the collection and transfer of security log data and develop logical processes around solutions aimed at identifying patterns and trends. The contractor will need to create end-to-end solutions for ingestion, storage, processing, and analysis of data from both COTS and Open-Source solutions, utilizing third-party development modules where required. Development will require reusable, testable and efficient code writing, and the ability to create integrative systems. The contractor shall also understand and interpret end-user requirements into application development. This role will also require the ability to work with data to derive insightful results from acquired data for multiple systems and apply and develop models for iterative use and build visualizations within enterprise business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, develops, enhances, debugs, and implements software.
• Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications.
• Researches, tests, build, and coordinate the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements.
• Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software.
• Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
• Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
• Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
• Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
• Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
• Acts as team leader on projects.
• Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of other software developers on development team.
• Participates in development of software user manuals.

• 16+ yrs. troubleshooting production problems related to software applications
• 10 years of Python Scripting
• 10 years of PowerShell Scripting
• 5 years of Data Analysis
• 5 years of Working with APIs/SDKs
• 5 years of Log Analysis
• 2 years of Understanding of Information Security concepts
• 2 years of Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Oracle OCI
• 5 years of experience Using of Git/GitHub for code maintenance and versioning
• 2 years of experience Create Data Visualizations using enterprise business intelligence tools
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience
