Project Manager

Location: Los Angeles or Orange County

Join us as we support a leading Grid Technology team at a major Utility in SoCal evaluate grid technologies to contribute to four strategic pillars: Cleaning the Power System, Enabling Customer Energy Choices, Strengthening and Modernizing the Transmission and Distribution Grids, and Achieving Operational and Service Excellence.



Responsibilities:

Manages the activities of one or more moderate, short to mid-term project(s) with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods and outcomes. Projects managed typically have own OU impact.
Accomplishes results through matrixed teams consisting primarily of professionals, and/or vendors who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
Determines methods and procedures on new projects. Exercises considerable latitude and judgement in developing plans, budgets, and resources, directing activities and actions, and determining deliverables. Interacts regularly with all levels of management.
Projects can have corporate wide impact with major financial or operational impact.
Develops business plans, objectives and initiatives for the organization.
Projects impact future course of business for the OU and/or company strategic objectives.
Accomplishes results through matrixed and/or cross functional teams consisting primarily of high-level professionals, line managers, other project managers, and/or vendors who exercise significant latitude and independence in their assignments.
Provides leadership in determining organizational objectives and policies and ensuring delivery of results.
Advise, guide and work with other employees and leaders.
Ability to lead a project from start to completion including complex, multiyear initiatives within and across OUs such as Finance, Regulatory, HR, Engineering, Transmission & Distribution, Legal, Customer Support, and Administrative Services as well as construction projects, infrastructure investment, and new facilities.
Develop and implement project, resource, and staffing plans, secure required resources, track and report on progress, troubleshoot issues and ensure project results meet requirements regarding technical quality, reliability, schedule, cost and regulatory requirements.
Monitor performance and recommend schedule changes, cost adjustments or resource additions including determining how changes will impact status, budget and timeline.
Certified as Professional Project Managers, preferred, to apply knowledge and experience in a variety of functions and projects across the enterprise.



Required Skills/Attributes:

Bachelor’s Degree in applicable profession, business, or technical discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Possesses 7 - 10 years of project management experience.
Acts as a key consultant to management for both functional and business issues.
Apply technical skills and expertise to improve the success rate of projects by applying project management principals, methods, tools and standards.
Project Management certification is strongly preferred.
