Project Manager 
Location: Waukegan IL 
Duration: 1 Year
 
 
Primary Function:
  • Develop, execute, and manage large, complex project(s) within a defined scope, using a combination of Waterfall and Agile methodologies as needed.
  • Manage a multitude of interrelated project activities and lead all aspects of the project lifecycle, working with senior level project sponsors/key stakeholders, team members, and management to oversee all phases of project completion.
  • Build and manage project’s work breakdown structure, milestones, risks, issues, and deliverables within the constraints of human and financial resources and changing priorities to ensure the successful completion of the project. Ensure transparent reporting of project status, issues, risks, and financials.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Systems/Computer Science or related discipline.
  • At least 7 years of proven experience with driving projects through various phases of a system development lifecycle (SDLC), using Waterfall and Agile Methodologies as appropriate.
  • At Least 3 years of experience managing significant IT projects in a Pharma environment.
  • Must have managed at least two project budgets each exceeding $2MM.
  • Must have demonstrable Executive Presence.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Cloud Computing and can provide evidence of having managed projects involving SaaS, IaaS, and/or PaaS.
  • Experience managing ITIL Demand/Release/Change methodology.
  • Proven Microsoft Office skills are required.
  • Strategic thinker.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP Certification
  • PPM Tool experience including, but not limited to, Broadcom Clarity v15, Microsoft Project Professional 2016
  • Experience, in a Pharma environment, managing Enterprise application development and/or application integration/migration projects, requiring an understanding of enterprise Cloud based database management systems and terminology
  • Able to work full time on-site.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and Plan Project: Works with business and IT management to establish and gain consensus on project goals, objectives, financials, and deliverables. Responsible for building the plan and resource needs to accomplish the scope.
  • Project Control: Assess the degree to which changes to scope, issues and risks will affect the project working with business and IT management and sponsor to gain agreement for resolution. Measure performance to assure the project is progressing as compared to original plan and budget.
  • Executing and Closing Project: Develops and executes a work plan obtaining authorized resources to ensure all activities are performed. Leads team in delivering project scope. Gather lessons learned and obtain final project approval from sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Project Communication: Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate program status and decision support information to project teams, business, and IT management. Makes recommendations based on current project status to resolve issues and manage risks.
  • Resource and Team Management: Coordinate resources to ensure project needs are addressed and effectively assign tasks and deliverables to team members based upon their abilities. Motivates project team in order to deliver project outcomes.
  • Quality Management: Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and functional policies and procedures.
  • Decisions: Make decisions that impact project level activities. Influences or has final decision authority for project budget.
  • Financial Control: Develops and manages a large financial plan with multi-million dollar spend over multiple years. Tracks actual spend, accruals, proactively creates spend estimates on a regular basis (at least monthly) and coordinates estimates and invoices with project vendors, in order to maintain spend at +/- 10% of the overall project budget.
  • Notes 1/11:
  • Currently hybrid onsite in Waukegan IL (3 days onsite). Must be local and able to work onsite.
  • Required:
    • Must have 6+ years of IT PM experience (ideally targeting Senior PM and/or Program Management experience).
    • Must have strong communication skills (top skill).
    • Must have experience working with stakeholders.
    • Must have Agile and Waterfall experience.
    • Must have experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
    • Must have experience with budgets over $2MM.
    • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Preferred:
    • Pharmaceutical industry experience is nice to have, not required. Open to other highly regulated environments.
    • Cloud-based project are very nice to have, not required (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.).
    • PMP is nice to have, not required.
  • Several projects in the Regulatory Affairs umbrella: “Phase Zero” (investigatory project to search for solutions), another project about delivering “known scope”.
  • Will be working with global teams (like Germany) and taking early morning meetings occasionally (7 or 8 AM CST).
  • Tools the team uses: Clarity PPM, MS Project.
