Primary Responsibilities:
- Recommends applicable technical patterns and solutions that are aligned with architectural guiding principles and standards through a regular cadence of delivery and continuous improvement initiatives
- Drives enabling and executing the architecture vision through leading technical architects
- 50% hands-on, 50% solution oversight
- Works closely with engineers and other architects on assessing, designing, and promoting architectural solutions in a technical context (application, integration, and data architecture)
- Drives technology modernization activities with architects and engineering teams including a shift to modular, data centric, open-source, and cloud-native technologies
- Works closely with Technical Product Owners in plotting required Enablers to support business feature teams on the Architecture Runway; ensuring full lifecycle delivery through CI / CD pipeline
- Conducts research on POC technical solutions, internal enterprise capabilities, and provides a continuous growth-oriented mindset
- Serves as a technical mentor and coach software engineers and innovation teams
- Participates in the evaluation of new technologies and partnering with engineers to create innovation labs for applicability
- Creates and continuously refines Non-Functional architectural guidelines, guardrails, and standards for consumption by Engineers and Architects

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor?s degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent experience
- 9+ years of related IT experience as a developer, engineer, architect, or similar role
- 8+ years of experience developing in modern full stack applications using open-source languages including Java, Spring Boot and data technologies including T-SQL and NoSQL
- 5+ years of experience on container orchestration using Kubernetes and Kafka event streaming
- 5+ years of experience working with an Agile development methodology
- 2+ years of experience designing cloud-enabled solutions in Azure or AWS or GCP or other cloud service providers
- Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential requirement of this role. UnitedHealth Group will adhere to all federal, state and local regulations as well as all client requirements and will obtain necessary proof of vaccination prior to employment to ensure compliance
